Fuck 3D. Until a new viewing format replaces the modern TV, then stick with 2D.

Absolutely fuck 3D from me too - the day gaming requires it is the day I can't game anymore. (For any "normal" 3D at least - eyes normally converge between 4-10 degrees and 3d products assume that - mine converge closer to 20 degrees)

I'm interested to see how powerful our phones/tablets will be for gaming compared to consoles by the end of this next generation in 6-8 years.

If you look at how far mobile tech came during this last generation of consoles, it's absolutely staggering. When the 360 released in 2005, this phone was at the high end of mobile technology:

Blackberry 8700, with a 320x240 display and 312mhz Intel processor, 8MB of RAM, 64MB of storage(note, MB, not GB)

Now, we're still several months out from the next gen launch, but the current state of the art phone(S4 for example):

1,920 x 1,080 resolution, 1.9ghz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16/32/64 GB internal storage + SD slot.

The leap in technology from one to the other is staggering...several orders of magnitude more powerful. If mobile devices over the life of these next consoles even progress half as fast as they did over the previous 8 years, we could easily be looking at phones and especially tablets that can out-muscle these consoles by the time the end of their generation gets here.

I'm still absolutely convinced that we are 1, maybe 2 generations of technology away from the demise of the traditional console, and your phone/tablet will serve as the heart of your new "console" that basically just consists of a dock that displays your phones image on the TV, and gives you a controller for gaming. The actual need for the hardware in something the size of these current consoles will be gone. I'd rather have every game I own with me at all time in my mobile device to then dock & use wherever I happen to be, whether its at home, in a hotel, a friends house, or whatever. Screw lugging your PS4 with you on vacation or taking disks over to your friends house. It'll all be on your mobile device which you always have in your pocket anyways.

Some Sony people have already said that the PS4 is going to support 3D gameplay (the Xbox One likely will too, the 360 does on some titles). They just didn't bother talking about it because 3D is old news at the consumer electronics level and they want to talk about 4k instead.

My think TV has 3D convergence settings and it's a couple of years old. I'd be surprised if most others don't.

I imagine that 3D will be the same in the next generation as it is now. Both platforms will do it, but hardly anyone will be bothered to actually program it into their games.

I think I have like a total of 4 X360 and 2 PS3 games that can do it. I tried it on Assassin's Creed III when I got my awesomely awesome new TV and I was not impressed in the least and haven't bothered to try the others.

One of my favorite 3D games is definitely Killzone 3. That game is pretty fucking gorgeous at times. I liked the 3D in Assassin's Creed for the environments, but sometimes the interface elements would get a bit wonky and I'd turn it off.

So is there any speculation if putting a SSD in the ps4 will get faster load times? I know some people say there is no benefits with ps3 or that they are questionable.

If there is a benefit it gives me a reason to upgrade the SSD in my desktop. Currently have a 256 GB Crucial M3 drive and I've been eyeballing the 500 GB Samsung drives for a while now (they're current $370 on Newegg).

On the PS3 I think there were a lot of questionable benefits over using a much more expensive SSD over a much bigger, much cheaper high quality regular HDD due to various system limitations and being stuck on a SATA 2.0 bus.

Benefits will likely be more apparent on the PS4 and SSDs have continually dropped in price since people were doing tests with PS3s.

Lenas: Highest I've seen on convergence settings still isn't enough for me. Its not hopeless though 3DS does work for me though. (Lenticular style)

This 100 percent in 10 years we will simply have a phone in our pocket with mini hdmi input everything will be digital in the cloud the only big thing u will need is your controller

On SSD only seen positive results for Skyrim otherwise wasted money on PS3. (Reported not personal)

By the time our phones are powerful enough to make consoles unnecessary I'm sure we'll be beyond hdmi cables and docking stations. shit will link up wirelessly to all your shit from in your pocket as soon as you walk through the door. I've read that SSD's in your PS3 are an absolute upgrade. You change from load times of upwards of a minute all the way down to 15-20 seconds.

Then you forget your super gaming phone in your pocket has it goes into the washing machine not to mention, having it stolen or lost or whatever. Bitch will be worth thousands with a few games on it.
