So, one of the Neogaf people (Kagari) confirmed that MP3 playback and DLNA is coming in a firmware update for the PS4. Probably the second one after launch.

Honestly doesn't surprise me - after he said he chatted with the PS4 devs about it - clearly was a matter of saying "people are complaining about this, it easy to program in?" followed by a "shouldn't be tough" (easier than Remote Play, I'm sure) that led to a "Then why the hell not include it, goofballs!?!"

Sony's gameplan this round has been giving consumers everything they want in order to beat Microsoft. It's been incredibly successful so far.
Supposedly, there's a powerful group of investors that would prefer Microsoft get out of the console business, so beating them soundly this round would be a great investment for the future

I see that Titanfall is confirmed to release on the PC the same day as Xbox , guess that's not going to be a helpful selling point for the Xbox in any way either.
