If anything the whole DNLA thing shows Sony is on the ball. There really hasn't been much outcry at all about it, yet they are patching it in anyway. Contrast that yet again with Microsoft, which only switched its policies after a gigantic shitstorm.

That's fine but don't act like they just dropped it and nothing is being done about it is the only problem I have with your statement. The way you guys are talking its like Sony committed some mortal sin by not including DLNA support.

They said they didn't appreciate how much people used the device for media streaming, but that they're going to implement it because of the outcry when it was determined it was not included in launch.

They fucked up. But all this " Dropping that news, what, 2-3 weeks before launch was a dick move and, again, some MS would be crucified for." tripe is unnecessary cry baby antics. Microsoft gets crucified for literally expecting its customers to bend over and get raped by intrusive always on kinect, intrusive 24 hour daily DRM checks, intrusive advertising schemes, higher prices, and flat out tone deafness. The fact that Sony dropped one aspect of the console and then promised to include it in a later update is not worthy of crucifying them over. Yes I realize it wasn't you who said that. The point is that its an overreaction to one overlooked detail that is getting fixed at some point soon.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Yoshida addresses PS4s lack of DLNA, MP3 support - GameSpot

Sony revealed yesterday as part of the comprehensive PlayStation 4 FAQ that the next-generation console would not support DLNA or MP3 playback at launch.

Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida addressed this on Twitter after the announcement, saying he has heard the feedback and will share it with developers.

"Thanks for the feedback to the lack of MP3 and DLNA support at the launch of PS4. I'll share with the PS4 Dev team for future consideration," Yoshida said.

It appears that Yoshida may have already held this discussion with the team.

"Had a very good discussion w the PS4 Dev team today. We're happy & appreciative to learn so many people use and like PS3's media features," Yoshida said in a follow-up tweet.

They DID reverse policy, sorry they haven't posted it in large enough font in every newspaper to make it meet your level of apology necessary.

One or two days of uproar was enough to get them to address the issue, while with Microsoft a roar 100 times as loud lasted ten times as long before they came down off Mount Olympus to bless their poor followers with a condescending attitude about how they weren't really ready for a rational discussion over being recorded 24 hours a day so you can be advertised to and undergo once daily rectal exams to verify your right to play games you've purchased for yourself at the store.

I havent asked for an apology. I've only asked for anything official saying they will allow me to play my own media over a network through their device. Talking about reversing the policy is not reversing the policy.

He's not asking for an apology, he's asking for officialconfirmationthat PS4 will be DLNA compatible. The only thing said that comes from an official source (and not a blog/forum/fan site) is that the dev team will be notified of customer's desire for this feature.

There's really no reason to get upset.

Jesus fucking Christ stop saying things are 'confirmed' by unofficial sources. Even if those sources have been somewhat reliable in the past, until it comes from Sony, it's pure speculation.
