Hard to find one person who wants to play a Wii U, much less 2?The only thing that pisses me off about that is the fact that the Wii U does it and no one appreciates it.
Same. I keep checking this thread and other sites trying to get hype for it, but just can't. There isn't a single game that is out at release that I can't play on my pc or PS3 that I want to play. I want it, I really really want it - but I just don't see the point. To play a TERRIBLE Madden at higher resolutions? 2k14 looks really good, but is it a console seller? Hardly. AC4? Nah, not when you can play it on other systems. BF4? It looks better on PC, and I already own the buggy piece of shit. Reading that Knack is all of 10 hours long is kinda meh as well, and agree it will be f2p on PS+ shortly. Really wish that they had a great list of day one exclusives, but that just isn't the case. No Watch Dogs really sealed the deal for me I guess, as that was the only interesting looking game for me. Also, not being able to use PS4 as my media device day one is a big deal for me. Can't wait to get it though, eventually, once they beef up their game library.Sadly I had to cancel my PS4 preorder. Can't justify the cost with so few next gen games coming out. I'll pick one up after Christmas.
BF4 being released early isn't too surprising. Luckily DICE has managed to fix most of the major crashes and the game itself is just fun. Given the nature of the problems on PC it should be relatively bug free on the PS4.
I know right?Hard to find one person who wants to play a Wii U, much less 2?
It's still going to cost the same at that point, though... January should see the launch of the Destiny Beta, which I guess ought to be interesting to at least some people? Watch Dog is also going to be out well before the first price drop can be expected.Sadly I had to cancel my PS4 preorder. Can't justify the cost with so few next gen games coming out. I'll pick one up after Christmas.
That is a lot of PS4s out by January 1st."This is a marathon, not a sprint, but getting out to a nice start is a good thing to do," Tretton said. "That hurdle has been cleared. We're very, very confident we're in great shape."
Tretton's remarks suggest Sony will avoid the supply problems that slowed early sales of the PlayStation 3 in 2006. The new console hits U.S. stores on Nov. 15, followed by Europe on Nov. 29, and will reach 32 countries for the holidays. Microsoft's Xbox One will debut in 13 countries a week later, down from an original target of 21 markets.
Colin Sebastian, an analyst with Robert W. Baird & Co. in San Francisco, last month estimated each company would sell 3 million units worldwide this year.
"We're very comfortable with it," Tretton said. "I'm excited about next week to be able to talk about what was sold as opposed to what we may sell."
Sony's American depositary receipts fell 0.8 percent to $16.61 at the close in New York. Shares of the Tokyo-based company have advanced 48 percent this year.
Launch Test
In August, Microsoft delayed the release of the $499 Xbox One in eight countries, including Russia and the Netherlands, until 2014 to make sure it had enough supplies for larger markets.
Both companies have added online features to their new machines, infusing them with entertainment options such as access to movies and TV shows to make the devices the center of consumers' living rooms.
Sony won praise earlier this year for its lower price, and keeping supplies flowing is crucial for its plan to get an early sales advantage.
"The only hurdle left that is not a non-issue until it's over is launching the thing, having people engage with the network and it all goes very smoothly," Tretton said.
Andrew House, head of Sony's game operation worldwide, in September forecast sales of 5 million PS4 units by the company's fiscal year-end in March.
I'm not entirely sure. I've seen it talked about a bunch, but I've never dealt with it personally.Question that I haven't seen answered though and someone (lookin at you Sean) may know is if games for either system, brought from a different region, can access dlc bought in home region. For example if I grabbed Soul Sacrifice while I was in the US last week I wouldn't be able to access the DLC through my PSN account since it's a different region even though the game is region free.
actually if you are pretty sure you aren't going to play there are good reasons to wait. The hardware for both is fairly generic in CPU/GPU, so as time goes on the manufacturing process will improve and quality get better, heat output will lessen, wifi antennas may improve, and a million other small tweaks. At some point, probably not in the first 2 years, you may even see upgrades in speed or hard drive size. There will be bundle packages and retailer deals that reduce the overall cost a lot down the road.If you are planning on getting one next year there really isn't a reason not to get it now. The price won't be changing anytime soon.
