The fruity "high information gamer" thing is just ps4 guys stroking themselves. The systems have two different crowds entirely. The vast majority of people that are gonna be standing in line for halo, gears, and forza couldn't give a shit about naughty dog story-time adventure games. Likewise most uncharted, last of us, and infamous fans couldn't give a fuck about halo. Once both systems have their key franchises represented in their line up it'll be the same 2 primary crowds as last gen, with the hardcore gamers having both.

I too find the UI pretty bland, luckily I don't spend much time sitting in it. Allowing us customization would be nice, I'm still using FF13-2's Lightning background for my PS3 and it looks nice. We can't even change the color here

Interesting to me that they're having drive failures thus far - both my 360s didn't RROD but did have drive failures.
I caved last night ,and picked up the Xbox one.
Both consoles are very good. Xbox acutely surprised me abit after all the negative shit about it.
Love the new controller, and the hardware itself runs really cool.
I would get the PS4 first for all console ports if you dont have a PC, and pick up the Xbox for the exclusives if you don't have money problems.
One other thing people were wrong in this thread about Xbox not allowing you to play games while you install. It's exactly the same as the PS4 from the games I own.
Load up the disc it installs a very small section then it says it ready to play.

Article I saw stated 'under 1%' which generally speaking they'd try to under state as much as possible, so pretty much : yes.
So first impressions. Absolutely loving my Xbox one. The UI is great the Kinect is surprisingly accurate and really easy to use. It takes a learning curve of around 30 mins to an hour. It's simply remembering specific sentences and phrases to zip around the UI. Absolutely loving it. Simply saying "Xbox watch TV" Boom I'm on my PC in 1-3 seconds. (PC is hooked up to Xbox). Assassins Creed 4 is gorgues and didn't mind the small amount of time I played Ghost. (very rusty). I will most likely pick up BF 4 as I think it could be really enjoyable especially with kinects ability to track leaning around corners and voice commands.
Controller - Absolutely love it. Feels perfect in my hand the feed back is great aswell.
Console- Actually isn't as ugly as I thought it would be amongst my other stuff. Although all my stuff is black including leather couch and TV unit/speakers. So it suits perfectly.
As of right now I'm loving my Xbox. The Kinect is something I'm really enjoying. Games look great and the controller is as close to perfect as you'll get IMO. I think it's been a great launch by both companies and I'm really excited to see what the future brings..

The triggers on that Xbox controller are the best yet. I hope they release that for the PC as well.

A few articles have subtly suggested a big part of the initial PS4 failure rate was amazon not packaging a lot of PS4s well, essentially breaking them. Some people have also tried to say the stock PS4 console (without 1.50/1.51 update) had issues with some HDMI TVs and getting the firmware update fixes many BLOD issues, but I think most people have said thats not really true except in very rare cases (some LG tvs I guess). In either case all the initial hysteria of amazon getting a bad batch, or chinese interns deliberately breaking PS4s, or RROD-levels of failure all seem completely wrong. A small chunk of amazon PS4s failed, some natural hardware failure rates (0.x%) and some because amazon probably did a shitty job packing it, at least from a few warehouses.
At least xbox one amazon pre-orders probably won't have that problem, amazon has got to have learned from that mistake.
for a real laugh read this thread, its basically ps4/xbone resellers trying to argue about how millions of people will want to buy these systems and they should sell for $1k+, while others try to troll the guys by showing ebay listings where people are barely scraping a profit

I will say, my PS4 came in a huge Amazon box with just air-cushions in there. It was kind of odd as I've never had such a small unit come in such a large box from them. It was easy to push in the tops of the box, so I could definitely see a problem there.
I have an LG tv and didn't have a problem, so I guess I'm thankful!

The PS4 obviously looks sexier, but I think they screwed up with the cooling system on it.
MS definitely learned there lesson with the overheating problems of the 360. The larger case with the bigger fans make that console run very cool all the time compared to my PS4 which runs extremely hot.
I'm acutely worried over a long length of time how my PS4 will hold up.
