I didn't see any dents or anything on my box but it was loosely packed. Probably bounced around a lot from the fucking jamokes working at ups.

My box was fucking crushed. The UPS dude dropped it off and was almost running to his truck to get moving before I could even get to the door and once i saw the box I understood why. I wish I had taken a pic of it but I was too panicked to see the damage inside and tore into it.

The ps4 was just sitting flat on the bottom of the box, all the packing was on top filling up empty space and the box was twice as tall as it needed to be. No packing on bottom to prevent shocks, all worthless packing on top crushed by UPS tards. My PS4 has been perfect though so I cant complain too much though but for the first few minutes the heartrate was definitely up.

Looking at the two consoles side by side.

The PS4 obviously looks sexier, but I think they screwed up with the cooling system on it.

MS definitely learned there lesson with the overheating problems of the 360. The larger case with the bigger fans make that console run very cool all the time compared to my PS4 which runs extremely hot.
I'm acutely worried over a long length of time how my PS4 will hold up.
I highly doubt that considering the PS4 runs cooler then the PS3 and that zero developers have said the PS4 has overheated.

I'm just judging from sticking my hand up to the PS4, and it runs hot.

way hotter then my PS3 slim.

The Xbox one is like a small ATX case with silent fans.

You're feeling the heat. That means that the fan system works well because it's transferring the heat to the outside of the unit.

That's a good thing. Not pulling all of the heat out makes the console itself run hot. I don't know 100%, but that "may" be why your xbox feels cooler, because it isn't venting as much warm air out.

Yeah but that shouldn't matter when you put your hand on the console.

For instance my computer draws heat out.but when I stick my hand on it, it's very cool.

When I stick my hand on the PS4 its hot on the top back section. It shouldn't be hot at all on the top if it works like my computer case.

~50-56c under load for the PS4 isn't bad as long as it's getting the heat out of the system. No noticeable rise in temperature after the initial 30 minutes of operation.

The Xbox One has a pretty beastly fan (and the case had to be larger because of it) - it will probably run cooler than it could honestly handle but I don't think they could survive another Red Ring of Death disaster of 50% of launch consoles dying of overheating over it's lifetime so they probably overcompensated.

Your computer also has a shit load of space to ventilate, while a console is extremely compact.. so theres that

Not really fair to compare the ps4s cooling System to a PC, they have such a vast difference in internal area, heatsink sizes, amount and size of fans, etc. I'm no thermal engineer, but I would imagine a significant amount of R&D was put into adaptive cooling.

Best way to examine the thermal performance of your system is to look at the temperature of the components you're trying to keep cool. Everything else is secondary.

Either way thanks for the updates column, keep them coming.

So for shits and giggles I decided to brave the stores of Tampa and see if I could find an Xbone. First GameStop I try had one left. Grats to me.

Yeah same here - I wasn't planning on getting an Xbone (I looked down on it before today tbh), but I was tired of waiting on a PS4. Went into Bestbuy and they had 8 left - I was number 7 in line. Stillslightlyon the fence about keeping it since I will be out of town for the next two days, and would love to return it for a PS4 if they had them in stock when I get back, but new console launch and all. I had to wait months to get a 360 after they all sold out at launch, and was pissed. Picked up Dead Rising, looks pretty fun, but we will see. PS4 shipments to BB where r u!?
