Arguing about information that has Pachter as its source... seriously?
Meh, he has inside knowledge about shit like that. There's a lot you can infer from it. And readying the lines to produce 1m/month was pretty expected. Producing 1.4m/month is actually really ambitious on Sony's part and if they don't keep up the sales on the PS4 it's going to be really costly for them.

I do think Vaclav and Xevy are taking it a little bit too seriously though! My guess is that at the end of December Sony was at 3 months in on Production & Distribution schedule and that MS was at their 3.25 month mark on their schedule. It's unlikely that they readied their lines at the exact same time.

I'm actually the opposite of taking it seriously. It seems a laughable stat to bother with.

Not as bad as 97% of 'poor people' own a fridge - but close to how irrelevant it is.

As Sean said even assuming shipping and locality prep are equal (which I'd expect not) small variables can throw everything into flux. What if PS4s ramped up, what if XB1s ramped down, what if there were delays between the two reports time frames? Ad nauseum.

Its a complicated ecosystem, expecting something succint to give a good impression is folly. Its much easier to look at stuff like wiialerts to see reality.

Is Don't Starve being buggy again? Did the same day 1 it went up too but was fixed, and now unfixed.

Brothers: A Tale of 2 Sons is a very neat little game. Original, not too long, often gorgeous, packed with many ideas and the whole game is built for the resolution which should remain in video game history as one of the strongest example of the narrative potency of gameplay.

Yeah, just played through it myself. It is some powerful shit. If you have PS+ it's free right now and anyone who hasn't played it should immediately.

I just finished it and man, I need a fucking hug.

I don't know if it was an exclusive thing or not, but I got an email for the Capital One Visa Playstation card. If you make a purchase with it, you get a $50.00 PS Store credit and a year of PS+. I got the card, bought $10.00 of credit on the PS Store with it, and a few days later got my codes for the $50.00 & PS+ 12 month via email. Pretty good. Card has no annual fee, so I'll probably just throw it in the pile of cards I don't use now.

Using statistics improperly is a common foible - look at how many people think that if you flip a coin and it comes up heads this time that it's more likely to come up tails next time because "statistically 50% of coin flips should come up heads" so it's got to even out. When reality is that each flip is a 50/50 chance regardless of previous or future data.
Have you ever met someone who thinks a coin flip isn't 50/50?

I'm not all up to par with Hard Drives and computers anymore but I'm just curious why you chose that HD over something like thisAmazon.com: Seagate 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6Gbps 64MB Cache 2.5-Inch ST1000LM014: Computers AccessoriesI thought everyone was raving over SSHD because it was the best of both worlds? Did I miss something?
I'm not a fan of the Hybrid drives. They have a 8GB SSD cache, but that's not great on a console, especially with 40gb+ games, and it has to learn what data to cache and you basically have to play the same game over and over for it to be decent. The pure 7200 drives are overall better, imo.

Plus I wont buy Seagate ever again.

Plenty - was a common interview question during my hiring in fact when I was hiring people for positions where logistics matters and the like. Usually something like "I just flipped a coin and got heads 8 times in a row, what are the odds that it will be heads on the 9th flip?" - if they took more than a few seconds to answer it was not favorable for them.

In my circle of friends and people I consider my peers, never though - but in hiring you bump into plenty of stupid people trying to do something they're not qualified for.

lol. I'd feel stupid even asking that in an interview, I can't imagine what would happen if someone didn't answer it correctly. I know if I was asked that in an interview it'd take me a second to answer because I'd be so offended they asked.
