Geno Smith to miss 6-10 weeks with broken jaw

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will miss six to 10 weeks after suffering a broken jaw in a locker-room altercation.

Coach Todd Bowles said Smith was hit by linebacker IK Enemkpali on Tuesday morning.

Bowles said Smith was "sucker-punched" by the linebacker. The quarterback will undergo surgery, he said.

Enemkpali has been released by the team, Bowles said.

I assume it is written into contracts and all that but it seems odd that some guy can break your jaw in the workplace and all that happens to him is he gets cut

I doubt Smith would sue him or whatever, and would he likely face a suspension if another team wanted to roll the dice and pick him up?

Also...how likely you think nothing else happens is because it's Geno Smith. What if this had been Brady or Manning that got punched? Can you imagine how much bigger the shit storm would be?

From the reports they were having an argument and Geno got in his face. The argument didn't diffuse and the guy "sucker punched" (I haven't seen a report how he punched him like his back turned or what) Geno. This was in the locker room so it wasn't like when Hines "The Faggot" Ward cheap shot blind sided Rivers to break his jaw. He just straight up punched the dude during an argument. In other words assault for the rest of the world.

Pretty much. I doubt Geno's pressing charges and no way someone's signing a nobody who's dumb enough to attack his starting QB and would be facing a suspension.

Edit: Shit, forgot about the Browns so who knows

I feel like we could make a list of teams who it wouldn't be that big of a tragedy for if their starting QB got sucker punched. It makes me sad if I'm not sure if my team would be on the list.

Best thing to happen to the Jets this offseason. Unfortunately for them 6-10 weeks still puts Geno able to play again week 2 earliest, week 6 latest.
