Yeah if they got more early'ish round picks I could see it working out. But just going straight up Rivers for a swap seems really dumb.

Yeah, the Rivers to Tenn thing makes no sense to me. It all started with Rivers saying that he doesn't want to uproot his family from San Diego for a potential move to LA. So Tenn is going to give away 4-5 years of a cost controlled top-5 pick to get a guy with one year left on his deal and that doesn't want to move?

I like the Greg Hardy signing. Team friendly (for the moment) with insurance in the event he's suspended (via the Gameday Roster Bonus, and who are we kidding, Mara will ensure Hardy does six games) and Dallas is one of the few places with the structure in place to keep someone like him from going off the rails.
Signing Hardy also fills the biggest need, that of a pass rusher. Which means they can definitely go after BPA instead of trying to reach.

Gotta look at the meta, bro. If they are not sold on Mariota, then this move makes perfect sense. One year left on a big contract QB that would happen to be their best QB since Steve McNair to put them in competition now, plus injecting the roster with an addition high to mid level round picks. Granted, the picks side of things predicates that they are able to draft well, but the proven commodity of Rivers, plus the picks, far outweighs an unproven prospect.
