My friend Kirun. Allow me to explain...Just more examples of people who wax nostalgic having no fucking clue what theyactuallywant. Nor do they realize that what made EQ great was the fact that it was your first foray into MMO gaming and the people that you played with. The game itself was downright awful.
EverQuest had Lore they didn't have a "story" to follow.
You're free to read about the history and lore of Norrath but it's NOT your "story".
There's a big difference between story and lore, I am all with Lore and all against Story. Trust me I think of game design almost daily and if you think I contradict myself you're wasting your time. What MMORPG designers should do is present a rich lore that can be found in dungeons, books and scattered around the lore. It makes you want to know more about the world. What they should not do is telling you YOUR story (SWTOR for instance).
I want to create my own adventure seeking my own fortune, hence, creating my own story while discovering the world's lore.
Am I an example of people having no clue what I actually want? Oh I know you want me to
The reason why EverQuest was great I explained before and like I said it has a collection of game mechanics that are not offered in today's market. As simple as that, answer my question I asked previously to prove me wrong, you can't.
