Becoming more and more true it seemsI think he uses this thread as a therapy outlet. I know I do.
I want to play EQ with you. Can I train him Vitality?Becoming more and more true it seems
You're wasting your time trying to rationalize anything with Utnayan about this game. He has an irrational hatred towards it even though he has only played the game for a few minutes. The last major patch that essentially redesigned much of the game has been well received and was the version the console beta testers played. The console beta test was for the most part universally well received, especially by the PC players who had played the game on PC and were in the console beta. The standard comment from almost all of them is that gameplay seems more fluid and natural using a console controller compared to mouse/keyboard.I have read the thread. I actually posted a lot early on in the thread. They have added a ton since I played last, which was about a month or so after release. Justice system, Champion system, Trials, better animation. Quite a bit in the first year. Certainly nothing like Rift did in its first year but comparable to most MMOs, I would say.
The real question is after you were fired from zenimax are you planning on working at zynga? That was a bad idea Mr Sage to go on the official forums and admit you cannot fix the mega server and will now be forced to adjust pvp into smaller slices because the server cannot cope. Zynga doesn't have this problemYou're wasting your time trying to rationalize anything with Utnayan about this game. This is a nightmare come true for Utnayan. He very well might have a mental breakdown if TESO does commercially well on the console and has long term popularity.
With all that said, since Utnayan ended up buying the PC version the day after it launched despite all his pre-launch rants, who thinks he will eventually break down and buy the PS4 version?
Lets address these point by point. You serious? All new content was put on hold last September so they could focus on console. You really cool with nothing new to do since craglorn? How about all the promised pvp features that never happened? How about the dumbing down of the UI once Sage and Firor realized they were going to have a console port? How about the idea that content, when it finally starts to come, will have to trickle out slowly so they can optimize it for 3 platforms; gods forbid PC get something new before consoles! Or the fact that every new DLC will have to be playable and fun on shitastic console hardware and with a fucking controller.
This game will only ever be a shadow of what Firor originally planned and promised it to be. It's been dumbed down to vanilla wafers to appeal to the console masses.
So let me get this straight. Utnayan and Vitality have been jerking each other off for the past couple of pages but in your eyes someone actually discussing the game is shitting up the thread?I see Rescorla is still shitting up this thread with his ESODF bullshit.
Rescorla, if you feel good about the game and the level of integrity that Sage and his team have shown, then I can't say anything other than, "Good for you!" Am I miserable that I bought the game and played it for hundreds of hours? Of course not - I got my money's worth. I'm rather pissed that I stuck with the game under what feel like false pretenses, though. We were repeatedly told that major updates would happen every 4 to 6 weeks. There have been something like 5 updates (and I'd argue that 3 of those have been "major") in 73 weeks. My point about updates being slower because of 3 platforms isn't coming out of my ass - Matt Firor said as much in a Q&A around March - he basically said that they'd not be able to stick to their 4-6 weeks update schedule, even after "console release settles down" because now they have 3 platforms to develop for and it takes more time. My biggest gripe comes from the way PVP players were strung along from day one. We were lured in by Firor who claimed the end game was going to be 100% Cyrodiil. This game was about large scale pvp, period. He actually said this. Then we were very slowly marginalized until now you see that the game is 90% PVE and and Cyrodiil is just accepted to be a shit show unless you play during off hours.Lets address these point by point.

Justice system and champion point system came out a couple of months ago so your September date is off. With said, of course I'm disappointed that there is a delay in new content release. However, considering the fact that ZOS was honest enough to tell everyone that there would not be any new content until the console launch stablized, only a fool would keep paying a monthly sub for nothing but cosmetic crap (which I have no interest in). I cancelled my subscription as soon as the game went B2P so personally I don't consider the lack of new content equating to "getting fucked over" since I am not paying for anything. From my perspective its not even that big of a deal since I've been a MMO hopper for the past several years. I saw that gap until new content gets released as a good time to finish the main quest in GW2, give FF14 a try and finally play Fallout New Vegas, which I bought on Steam for like $5 a couple years ago. I imagine by the time I finish the latter there will be new stuff to do in TESO.
How about all the promised pvp features that never happened?
I think its safe to assume Imperial City and perhaps instanced team vs team PVP will be one of the first things released post-console.
How about the dumbing down of the UI once Sage and Firor realized they were going to have a console port?
No disagreement on the UI since I've had issues with that from the start. With that said, apparently there are significant differences between the console UI and PC UI with people who have played both saying the console UI is better than PC version. If that is the case, there is no excuse to not open up the addon API and give the modders more flexibility.
How about the idea that content, when it finally starts to come, will have to trickle out slowly so they can optimize it for 3 platforms; gods forbid PC get something new before consoles!
That statement fails the common sense test. If ZOS sells millions of copies of the console version (and it appears they already have), then it should be fairly fucking obvious that they will want to release new DLC as quickly as possible in order to generate as much revenue as they can. Lots of players complain about the PC being a "paid beta test" for the past year. OK assuming they are correct then don't you think the PC version will get all new DLC first so they can continue to test it before it gets deployed to the consoles, which to my understanding has to meet Microsoft and Sony's higher QA standards? I don't play consoles but that is my understanding of how the consoles work. If the console is a major commercial success, I see that as pretty much a 100% guarantee that there will be a significant amount of DLC released on a regular basis for the next several years. If so don't you think that is good news for both PC and console players?
Or the fact that every new DLC will have to be playable and fun on shitastic console hardware and with a fucking controller. This game will only ever be a shadow of what Firor originally planned and promised it to be. It's been dumbed down to vanilla wafers to appeal to the console masses.
That hasn't hurt the popularity of FF14. That game was obviously designed with the PS4 community in mind since from a keyboard/mouse controller perspective and the 2.5 second global cooldown it has the absolutely slowest gameplay of any MMO I have ever played.
How's Fallout 4 coming along? So let me get this straight. Utnayan and Vitality have been jerking each other off for the past couple of pages but in your eyes someone actually discussing the game is shitting up the thread?
Very nicely from what I am hearing. He is really doing a great job. He is using Megaserver since it supports single player (They are up to 20 NPC's on screen at the same time) and no nameplates. How's Fallout 4 coming along?
Bullshit(?)Very nicely from what I am hearing. He is really doing a great job. They are using Megaserver since it is a single player game and therefore shouldn't have any issues, and he can force no nameplates that way too.
Hey now... Don't blame Rockstar for this mess. And I'm going to try not to spend much more money on console developers like Rockstar, UbiSoft, Bethsoft, Zenimax... you get the idea. All of them.
I kid, I kid. The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard hired Paul Sage.Bullshit(?)
Bye Paul Sage. You should have been gone 5 years ago.... Maybe we would all be enjoying this game instead.Hello everyone,
Our Cyrodiil performance is something we are very aware of. Performance drags when there are numerous players in the same place at the same time. This is why performance in Cyrodiil is fine for much of the day, but gets worse during more popular times. We are currently investigating ways in which we can reduce the spike of performance loss. We added in some features for Update 6 which we hoped would help, but ultimately did not. This is not a situation where we can just add more hardware. Player population in a given area hurts the performance and the more people that are in one area, the more performance is going to be hurt.
Actively, we are looking at changing the behavior of the players to remove incentives for large groups to stay in the same area.We want to do this by providing larger incentives for Alliances to split up and take on multiple-challenges in Cyrodiil. We'll continue to work on this. We are also asked by players if there is anything they can do to help.In this situation, the best thing you can do is split off to different objectives when you notice performance going down.(HAHAHAHA) Cyrodiil is a big place with lots of different things to do. And thank you for asking.
This effects the entire game on all platforms. This is not a situation where we can just add more hardware.
I know you like to treat your beliefs and assumptions as facts so sit down before you read the next sentence.I kid, I kid. The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard hired Paul Sage.
