I'm not into Korean grinders so while Archage looks cool I'm not really looking forward to it. Anyone that thinks it won't be a grind is fooling themselves. Might not be a level grind but there is going to be a huge one laid in there somewhere. Screw Korean games. CU might be interesting though..
The leaked video and the over reaction by people was unexpected. I have some cake coming that specifically mentions and talks about it. Suffice to say the video was made by a retard and the over reaction from people that saw it was kind of stupid. If someone posted a video of leaving the Undead starter crypt in wow, running out and getting WTFPND by the first start mob what would your reaction be? Noob? Idiot? Yeah. The only legit gripe people had were the animations which have been upgraded significantly in the last pass and they have said they aren't done yet.
As for people losing interest. The game will either stand on its own or it won't. I'll be the first person to shit all over this thing if its going to be a mess or if its not going to pan out. I don't have anything invested in this except some time. People will always flock to quality games, or run from shitty ones, especially fee based MMO's. So far, they are exceeding expectations by a good margin. We shall see if it continues or not but so far its looking very good.
So a post written by a fanboy who calls the original leaked videos being played by a retard and then claiming there was an animation pass (There wasn't) = More Bullshit tripe. I love this one:There's a pretty big Q&A with a supposed tester over on Betacake. This little snippet from the comments section has restored a little bit of hope for me:
To the asshole who wrote that(Obviously not you Blackwulf but I want to make sure you know I am not directing this next comment at you) , we wouldn't need a reaction in WoW back then because there wasn't an NDA and we could see the countless videos, information, transparency, because Blizzard knew they weren't shitting out a turd and cashing in on an IP based on a development cycle from a bullshit artist. They lifted the NDA6 monthsprior to launch. Comparing the two is obnoxious, and reeks of typical scapegoating garbage. If they are so sure of themselves, lift the NDA since they are 6 months from launch, open up the beta, and let people see it for themselves. Why not? Because they need to protect box sales. Pure and simple. Another thing this guy fails to realize is that this is now 2013. WoW was 9 fucking years ago and what I saw in friends and family Alpha blew that video out of the water whether the guy knew how to play or not.If someone posted a video of leaving the Undead starter crypt in wow, running out and getting WTFPND by the first start mob what would your reaction be? Noob? Idiot? Yeah.
Not that they are being cocks really, it isn't done. Shit, 75% of the game isn't finished. Let me go through some tidbits in that "Q&A" which really reads like it was a Q&A with an undercover developer. Before I quote some things, mind you this game has been in development since2007. That's over 5 years now giving them about a year to ramp up the team and organization of a new company. Which is fairly generous. Remember... 5 years. The part I highlighted was what I was referring to as giving me a bit of hope. If they are still improving animations, then maybe we'll see something a lot more polished looking than that leaked vid. That's all I was saying. Still hoping the systems (skill trees, rvr, crafting, etc.) make the game a worthy purchase, but we won't know for a while, cause Zenimax are being cocks and not showing us anything.
5 Years. Is the crafting fun, rewarding and good or rather boring and bad?
A: Crafting stuff is dropping and crafting is in game but doesn't seem to be fully implemented yet.
5 Years.Q: Are High-End-Areas playable and enjoyable?
A: Not available at this time. Currently most of what is being tested right now is out of the gate stuff to the early teens.
5 Years?Q: How is the RvR? How well does it play, is it interesting? Can you relate any stories about the RvR?
A: Not in game or really close to being tested yet.
Should probably have that in at least internal testing in 2013.... after 5 Years....Q: What about the Auction house? Is it cross-faction?
A: Not in yet.
5 Yea.... Wait, WHAT????Q: Is there a proper threat mechanic or do mobs just attack whoever they wish?
A: Taunt and threat are a little buggy. Its early beta and they are not fully implemented yet.
This isn't a beta tester. This is a developer posting as a beta tester.Q: Can you detail all the skill trees for all the weapons, armours, races, classes and others?
A: Yes. Not here though. Detailed list of that is coming soon as is a general state of the beta type post with more information.
Thanks Grassroots betacake Q&A.Q: What are the skill trees for each class, and if possible, can we get a short description of each? (Or you can be in depth, that would be delightful) From what I've seen, this has been the biggest question among forums. Thank you for your time!
A: I'm going to provide that cake in a later post. Full, at least as of when they were jotted down, skill lists for everything available. Should be up in the week,I think we'll meter out the info since it is a lot over a short period.
The game might be crap on a silver stick and most of us will still buy it (raises hand - guilty as charged). Even crappy mmo's are fun for a short time right after launch, just because they are new and different. Also there are tons of other people to play with at launch, mmos are much more fun with a ton of people around, even crappy mmos. Once the shiney wears off is when the long term success is determined.Yeah, I know. I had the same thoughts, with regard to so much, "not in yet." I'm just hoping they have that shit roughed out and they are adding it to the beta build bit by bit. Like I said, "hoping" - this game has at best a 40% chance to be good in my mind. 3 months ago I would have said 80%. A year ago when I first heard the hype at E3, I would have said 95%.
Seriously, I'm an optimistic person, but I'm not dumb. I've seen the hype trains turn in to train wrecks many times. I'm growing more and more leery about this game by the fucking DAY. Every day they post some stupid ass lore/fan art bullshit to their website and they don't show us any real info or footage from their game that is supposedly coming out in 6 months, I move them down another notch in my book.
I enjoy being hopeful, though, and the idea that they'll surprise us all with a real gem still lingers in the back of my mind. In the meantime, I'm enjoying fantasizing about what EQN and Camelot Unchained will be like.
Edit, cause I was rushed in my first response.
Exactly. Literally nothing else that is near being released looks fun to me. So, yeah, unless it's pretty much unplayable, I'll prob give it a shot. The game might be crap on a silver stick and most of us will still buy it (raises hand - guilty as charged). Even crappy mmo's are fun for a short time just because they are new and different. Once the shiney wears off is when the long term success is determined.
And like someone said in the WildStar thread, what else do we have to look forward to? Not much else coming down the pike in the short term and WildStar just doesn't work for me. The new and different isn't very obvious in this mmo though. Standard mmo fantasy setting, etc.
AMEN!Wildstar should last long enough to suffice until EQ:N delivers the promised land
Since there isn't anything interesting on the horizon then why have you not considerednot playing a MMO?And like someone said in the WildStar thread, what else do we have to look forward to?Not much else coming down the pike in the short term, and WildStar just doesn't work for me.
