That is the most pathetic excuse for shitty behavior there has ever been. That won't stop people from continuing to do it, but I have never respected anyone that partakes of it.

People who have a sense of decency don't use another person's behavior as an excuse. They try to act consistently in every situation.


Edit: Nobody is perfect though, and we all act like morons occasionally. But that also isn't an excuse for continuing the behavior.

For what it's worth, I think Betacake is what it purports to be. I don't think the marketing departments of most AAA games have nearly the foresight or cunning to pull a scam like that off. However, it is almost certainly infested with all kinds of shills whether they be from a paid PR company, or closely associated with the companies themselves. That is the kind of short-sighted, reactionary astroturfing I would expect from them.

Different subject. We were discussing the person who operates BetaCake and whether he and his site are just a paid PR service for the gaming companies. Turned out he is legit.

Shills who go to that site (or any gaming site) are a different matter, and not one that I ever disagreed with. And up until BetaCake's info on TESO was nuked by Zenimax's threats, you could have made an argument that Tesotester was a paid shill who took advantage of BetaCake. It seems pretty obvious now that even he was legit.

Devil's advocate - this game is produced by Zenimax and they have some strict PR rules. They didn't allow Bethesda to say shit about Skyrim during development, either.

Truth of the matter is, I figure they are probably behind schedule and working like crazy to get caught up. I bet as a critical mass of production work gets put in, we'll start getting spammed with videos and shit. Ut's probably right that a lot of low level devs are pissed at Firor right now, but that's cause peons always get pissed at the top brass. He's gotta make all the tough calls.

What tough calls would those be? Besides completely fucking their development cycle for 5 years and now cracking the whip after his own (repeated throughout his career) mistakes?

C'mon now, Ut - you've never run a 300+ employee development house trying to manage a 1-200 million dollar budget. You don't have any idea the kind of fires he has to put out every day.
