There's two broad lines of complaints against the game that I see so far...

One is generally aimed at the devs, about how they are lying about the game, the features, how far along the game is, etc...I can't comment about any of that, I'm not in the secret of the gods.

The second line of complaints is about the graphics, animations, combat, questing, etc...this I'll comment on, it looks, animate, plays, and feel like an Elder Scroll game.

Uh, no it doesn't look, animate, play, or feel like an Elder Scrolls game. Obviously they are different genres and they chose a theme park path.

1) First person is a mess compared to it's single player RPG counter part. Skyrim looks terrible in 3rd person, and good in 1st person (As it should, skyrim and all other TES games to date have been designed specifically with 1st person in mind). Elder Scrolls online looks terribble in 1st person and good in 3rd person because that is the waythatgame was designed. Queue in a complaint that TES should never be 3rd person, and you have ZO shoe-horning in a Camera zoom with a terrible FOV in a game designed to be 3rd person anyway, and it does NOT look anything like an elder scrolls game. But they did this to hit the lowest common denominator for sheeple marketing.

2) The targeting system is not what TES is. Nor is the combat. This is expected, but let's not say it plays like a TES game when 1) 1st person is terrible, 2) combat mechanics are an exact copy of Guild Wars 2. The two games are not even close in how they play, and being able to zoom in all the way with your camera to eye level and then spam the mouse button to shoot random things to a hit box doesn't make that any better.

3) Animations: Completely subjective but the reasons why animations were bad in traditional TES games was 1) Most players were in 1st person, so body animations for the player were skimped on. 2) Gamebryo and the attempted integration of their animation system, time and time again. TESO is not using Gamebryo. The animations are probably about the same, but the game was designed around 3rd person in mind where you interact with thousands of more people while also seeing yourself constantly. Terrible decision for poor animations, but true none the less. Comparing the two given the scope of work is comparing apples to oranges and shouldn't be used as a blanket statement excuse for TESO because of previous incarnations.

They are completely different teams, shit, two completely different companies, two different genres, completely different play stayles, and what you are saying here is that it should be expected because the IP has traditionally been like this.

Doesn't compute.

You know what got them in trouble? Trying to make it feel like an Elder Scrolls game when it ISN'T an Elder Scrolls game. And there isOnereason why they keep touting that line.

Marketing to the common denominator. (Box sales).

What they should have done was build a Sandbox Elder Scrolls combining the scope of the first 5 games; Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim - - let us all run rampant, build houses, collect things, craft things, make some higher level raiding areas, and let us live and breath in the world without a subscription cost making money off an online store with novelty and crafting items. On a static server with tons of shit to explore, conquer, and obtain.

Not the first person (ha) on this board to defend playing Skyrim in third person, but I still find it shocking that anyone can tolerate it beyond looking at new armor. It's not Oblivion levels of shit, but it's still a nice pile.

Blasted again. This time my Rock Paper Shotgun.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...crolls-online/

Hey look, it's been an overblown out of proportion first person tick again. (I told you this would be nothing different than WoW's first person view... .just zoom the camera up. It doesn't mean the game hasn't been designed from the ground up with 3rd person in mind and looks fucking terrible)

Aim assist.

Exploration = Fetch Quests.

Basically, run around the world aimlessly looking for little yellow NPC's to make sure you can get some quests so you aren't underleveled for the next zone. This is now called exploration, and expect it to be fucking hyped the hell out of and twisted massively in the coming FUD marketing months.

Fun. Rinse and repeat "You are Neo" save the town quests. Over, and over, and over... Until you run into the next area which is... empty space because after 6 years they have only just started populating the mid 20's leveling areas.

Here is more proof they are behind schedule Blackshill.

Remember, this all gets to launch in November! (Countdown until the RvR aspects are launched as a patch or expansion because of the horrid management)
That's cool man, but can I ask a question - are you ever happy? All of your posts seems so negative, snarky, down, syndrome, sad, angry, and lonely.

Which game hurt you so bad? Who caused this damage?

I'm going to try to avoid responding to Utnayan, cause no one who is sane writes this much shit about a game they think sucks. At least not for free. Personally, what I'm seeing in these new clips looks good enough to interest me visually. The systems they CLAIM the game will have at release also interest me. Those two factors mean I'll be giving ESO a try. Hoping we get to see a lot more of the game before I spend money, though.

Ut is a long time member of this community. He's really not spending that much time on these forums talking about video games honestly.

Am I the only person that watched that video and found a guy get really excited about going into a cave for a "fetch" quest to gather stuff and bring it back to town?

Um, you need to space these out by a few pages according to the viral handbook.

Which is it? You just said you are buying it no matter what and then said before you spend money you need to see a lot more of the game. You are really bad at this.

(If any company out there hires an anti shill, which definitely exist by the way, that would be a real waste of money. This game bashes itself anytime it releases something.)

No Draegan. Fetch quests when it pertains to story means it is SO much better. These guys have the worst marketing department and an even worse viral campaign. Honestly, if they were smart they would just shut up and let the dust settle for a while until they have something to show.

Aaaaaand. That IGN preview cost $1,500 with an exclusive first look at fallout online.

Do I really have to explain this? I AM going to buy this and give it a try. I HOPE I get to see a lot more before then. Either way, I'm going to buy it. Can you understand now? Okay this time, for real, I'm going to try avoid replying to you, so unless it's really important, please don't ask me anymore questions - use your resources like the internet, dictionaries, etc.

So if you are buying it anyway to see for yourself, why does it matter if you see more or not? Anticipation? I often wondered this myself. How many gamers want to anticipate. It's fun for sure. I'm getting married June 8th and then off to Playa del Carmen for seven days. So half the fun is anticipating how fun it will be.

So I guess I can see your point why you are so disappointed in not seeing anything good to help you anticipate before your purchase. Kinda sucks the fun out. That might be good for you though so you aren't let down. (Serious post)

So I guess to put myself in your shoes, it would kinda suck if I knew I would spend my honeymoon in Cabrini Green.

Sure, you can look at it that way. Or you can look at it as a guy who really enjoyed ES games getting excited that this MMO has a quest that reminded him a lot of ES games. I try not to read too much into things.

UT and Draegan have already decided to hate the game. So they are predisposed to see everything in a negative light. Just ignore them.

I saw it the way you did, which is also the way the player explained it. Since he isn't a mmo player generally, but is a big ES fan.

The info coming out is making me want to actually play Oblivion and Skyrim. I generally dislike single player rpg's but since not much else is coming down the pike for a while, this is probably a good time to give them a try.

Not believing the hype is something everyone should do in every game. But people jump on the hope train anyways. Good or bad PR doesn't make a game good or bad. And so far all we have for TESO and WildStar is PR. But that hasn't stopped people from prejudging those games anyways.

The best thing to do is wait for beta, play the game for yourself and then decide.

You couldn't last one post of his before you responded lol. I personally don't trust any footage from any company unless it has an UI with it. In the end the graphics mean jack shit if the game isn't or is fun to play.

All we have is PR for Wildstar and ES? Not the countless different hands on impressions from different sources?

More like the only GOOD things u hear about ES is PR and the bad being hands on impressions. (except IGN latest)
