Not bad. Alex was an okay character, but he was fucking milquetoast. Even Naomi at least has a personality outside a faux Texan accent. The whole dating espionage thing a few episodes back really showed how fucking awful that character was when not interacting with stronger characters.
Even with the speed limit turned off, they could've sent the torpedos out at low velocity and once passing the ring turned on the thrusters.

All you do is rally more to the cause and then blow up more stations until you elminate the belt and people from the inner planets can't resupply and repair ships between there and The Ring. You cut off the head and the body dies. Keep cutting off tentacles and more grow back in its place.

You can't build a long-lasting civilization on conquest and slaughter. Act like the Mongols, and die like the Mongols. This is why Earth got asteroid-bombed in the first place, they treated the belters as the Mongols did their victims. Target and destroy the OPA fleet and stop treating the belters like shit, and they'll stop organizing to attack you because they will no longer have a just cause to rally behind.

From what I've seen on the show, Earth and Mars are pretty bloody ruthless to the belters: murder, torture, theft. The belt needs to form a nation and have its own military, in order to protect themselves, that's for certain. And if Mars and Earth don't want to get asteroid or Omega-bombed, they need to change their ways.

I just think its fun that the book readers knew how vital Peaches was going to be to the overall plotline back when the rest of us figured she was just a one-note seasonal character. Then again we had already made that mistake about Drummer so silly us.

what a shit show of a season. Super disappointed in the showrunners and show, really its just worth watching seasons 1-3, the final episode of season 4, and thats pretty much it. I binged this season after all the episodes aired because I figured the quality would be meh, but I was not at all prepared for 3 episodes of Naomi torture porn, which was abysmally bad. Holden and Naomi are awful characters and actors, why would you spend so much time on her (oh right black female actress, 2020).
Oh well it went by fast, some of the space shit was cool, but what a disappointing season. Every season up till now has expanded the scope of the story and universe and been really interesting, season 5 was just a hard reverse and so mundane. They also weirdly scaled back so much, its been a while since I read the books but I remember the asteroid hits being WAY more damaging.
Laughably there is only one season left now, the show definitely ends at season 6 and I can't imagine the next season being good at all. They gotta wrap up Inaros, the Belter vs. Earth vs Mars threads, and I don't even know how the hell they would tackle Duarte and Laconia. Not to mention the "galactic" big bad monsters thing. Why they went so goddamn slow this season is insane.

In that same argument he continues that if they did settle on the planets, their kids would be adapted for normal gravity and then they wouldn't be Belters anymore.
So, it's not evolutionary adaptions, it's just muscular etc development due to microgravity.

Book 6 is a natural end point, but you can’t tease Laconia and just leave that hanging. And ya, the wormhole aliens.

The entire meteor thing was so fucking dumb. And I say this as a non book reader.
Goddamned ASTEROIDS supposedly hit major cities across the US, killed what is essentially Earth's president, and your plan to get me to "care" about this is a few throwaway mentions that "millions" died? On a planet with a population of 30 BILLION? 2020 Earth with a population of 8 billion would have that amount die if it just hit New York. And this supposedly hit multiple cities?
This season's problem is that the supposed "major" plot points were glossed over or barely mentioned, while we spent 3 fucking episodes showing that yes, Naomi can edit a broadcast signal.
I STILL don't even really know what makes Marcos that terrifying or really what his motivations are. He has protomolecule and is pissed at the Inners, but that's about as deep as it goes. Oh, I guess Mars gave him a shitload of warships for reasons, too. But, I got up to take a piss, so apparently I missed their 20 second discussion on why. Thank God the actor playing him is doing such an awesome job, because the writing gave him about the depth of a doorknob.

This season was definitely not good. Not quite the boys level of bad for me, but that show was almost an unwatchable trash heap in my opinion. I thought last season was better. There was lots of stupid drama, but at least the stuff in the last couple episodes was interesting sci fi shit.

I also binged all ten episodes over the past few days. I’ve read all the mainline novels so there weren’t any surprises for me and thought the season was -ok-. As a non-book reader, I could see it being a huge drop off in quality and coherent story telling. They obviously have to gloss over a lot of finer detail when adapting 500+ page novels into 10 episodes.
Season 6 is a good end to the show as there’s a significant time gap between books 6 and 7. How they make it compelling and end in a satisfying way... that I’m less certain about.
