honestly, i think this is what they were TRYING to say, but just did it poorly.

sam didn't exist for 5 years, along with half the population of the world. some 4 billion people all showing up at once would cause absolute economic chaos. look how long our CURRENT government has taken to hand out $3000 in stimmy checks and that's something that everyone saw coming. the point, i think, was that under the old rules, sam would have gotten a loan no problem but the world doesn't work that way anymore.

sam has money, that's not necessarily the issue. the issue is boat chartering is live or die and it's probably even worse after the blip because, again, economic chaos. sam isn't the only one in that kind of situation. you have HALF THE WORLD with no place to live, no jobs, etc. some rando bank in nowhere new jersey isn't going to be able to just give out loans to fix everyone's problems.

ALL THAT BEING SAID it's a boring storyline the way it's implemented and i hope it ends soon

He wouldn’t have a pension unless he did 20+ or maybe medically discharged after 10+ but not likely.

And the pension isn’t all that great, just FYI, probably 30kish annually. Lol unless he got 100% disability then it’s basically whatever his active duty pay was but I doubt his knees would be good enough to run with Cap if he’s got 100.

And as far as calling Pepper Potts...remember Sam fought against Tony and was on the lam with Steve for two years.
Pepper may forgive Steve as him and Tony made amends but I don't think she would be so understanding with the ones that ran with him.
And I'm not even sure how much she forgave Steve, if you remember right in Endgame at Tony's cabin she never came out and greeted them even though she was right inside. That sounds like someone who still is a bit butt hurt about the shit that went down.

Falcon being broke is fucking stupid and terrible he could make a million dollars going on oprah. Go fund me. i did 4 years in the Marines then took an HVAC job because I lost drunk bet ect and I'm better off than an avenger....

No one said he was dead broke, he doesnt have the credit for a loan.
This is 6 months after 4 billion people reappeared after being gone for 5 years
Im sure the economy is fucked at this point in time

It's a stupid, nonsensical, and pointless concept, especially when contrasted against the much more serious stakes of Bucky's story.

the economy looked pretty fine, chinese lady has a cafe. how many of those you see open now? spidey came back and the kids were all fine, they toured Europe and it was fine. i guess for shrimpin boat cappins, The Snap was horrendous. the worst part of that is, even if Sam got the loan, neither he or his sister has any desire or ability to even be a shrimpin boat cappin. the point is, this broke Avenger crap doesnt belong in this story, it distracts from the real story of Bucky trying to make amends for decades of assassinations. let bubba gump continue to fly around the world fighting missions with his multi million dollar, high tech flying rig and we can enjoy that too.

They honestly should have made the Sam family business bigger. Have them own a few fishing boats and a cannery or something. Something where it would be a bit more reasonable that a guy who helped save the planet didn't have liquidity.

The wiki reminds me of a few things, and actually points out some problems, which could result in him being broke.

so, he starts as a pararescue airman in the Airforce. experimental pilot. so probably was paid well... But he quit that to do therapy with PTSD vets. which is going to pay much less.
Joins Cap vs hydra, the joins the Avengers..
Should be getting paid well again, in the Avengers.

But Falcon joined Cap during Civil war, and is arrested and put into the Raft. Cap breaks them out.. Felon. And hell, might have had his assets frozen/siezed.
this is never resolved officially, before Thanos attacks.

Think of it this way. For 5 years half the people are gone, officially labeled dead. What happens to their belongings, bank accounts, home and cars? Scott was lucky Cassie survived and could put the van in storage but for a lot of people the banks are seizing everything.

5 years later.. the unsnapped people return. Some of them were naked while showering in their apartment. Except it's no longer their apartment, none of their clothes are there, no wallets or ID. I hope everyone snapped onboard planes, boats, and trains were placed safely on land. Even the phones in their hands won't be there if they obey the canon of Fury's pager remaining behind.

Loans and credit for ANYONE after all this? Hah, not a chance.

they had sam literally reference "those white folk", meaning the bank. soon as that line was uttered they were going for the "Mister Charlie trying to keep a brotha down" racism card. for some reason us white guys are making excuses for Sam being broke and unable to get a loan. would any of us be stupid enough to ask for a loan if we didnt have jobs, income, property and nothing to show for the business that its capable of generating revenue?
