Teaser didn't change my opinions:

Starting off with Galactus is a bad move, IMO - there's nothing to escalate to after that.
This being their own universe does allow them to have a unique flavor for set decoration, etc., but will 'The Youth' be interested in a setting that is this archaic?
Speaking of their own universe, so they're just tossing out the decades of F4 lore, beyond the, what, less than a dozen people (F4, Alicia Masters, Galactus, She-lver Surfer, Doom?) that get carried over to the MCU in presumably the solution to Galactus?
And speaking of their own universe, again, will more people be turned off by no connection to any properties than people turned on by not having to know the backstory? My gut says we're down to the diehards coming to these things in the theatre.
I know Vanessa Kirby is nearing 40, but if I wanted Big Mom energy, I'd go watch The Incredibles 2 a second time.

Haven't paid attention to the casting, who is Malkovich? Franklin Storm? Or Franklin Richards with time travel?
Not having a connection to the MCU was also a HUGE knocking point for some other movie...wish I could remember the name

Oh yeah it was

They seemed to have done okay for themselves.

GotG made less money its first weekend than Iron Man 1 did six years earlier, when IM1 (obviously) had no pre-existing MCU audience.

Not that good movies couldn't have longer tails (in the past), but the inevitable Disney+ release is probably also eating into the non-premiere week crowd - given the relative crappiness of the post D+ launch films, its tougher to tell how much impact D+ has had on MCU tails.

Speaking of my quote, pretty sure Malkovich is Franklin Richards now. I mentioned Sue had Big Mom energy, but go back and look at Sue's abdomen from 0:07 to 0:11 - it's a different shape (and the vertical white element to her dress hangs differently) practically every frame. Her pregnancy seems like a weird plot point to hide, when you then include Malkovich in the trailer and explicitly don't state who he's playing. Is Natasha Lyonne actually Valeria, and not Alicia Masters?

Ultimate Marvel re-did Galactus in a much more reasonable way. Instead of a super giant that literally eats a planet for reasons, instead it's a swarm of insects that devours all life on a planet, as well as whatever could help life with the Galactus swarm. It was a good re-imagining.

I've never heard of that version, and I'm gonna say that I really don't like it at all. So he is basically a Tyranid colony?

Yeah, I'm still thinking I prefer the huge dude that devours the life force from a planet, not actually eats everything for biomass. In fact, the more I think about it, I REALLY hate that version. That's ruining literally everything Galactus was about previously. Make a different "swarm" creature if you want one, don't change the existing Galactus.

They changed him in the first FF movie and everyone hated that one as well. The only Galactus that will be acceptable to the masses is the world eater Galactus. Which if I'm remembering correctly his size can range from 29ft tall to over 285,000 miles tall.

Well, fake or not, it still "looks" real. Seems to have all of the various things from the real movie. the only thing that threw me off was seeing Doom.

Someone posted a fake in the Thunderbolts thread. I didn't realize it was, but this was a link directly after that trailer ended so I posted this one also not realizing it. I didn't even watch it when I first posted it, but I did after. It still "looks" real, even though I admit that it isn't.

If it's not from the official Marvel Entertainment channel then you should just assume its fake.

There's a scene from the Jessica Alba movie in it for fucks sake, where Thing looks at the TVs and is sad.

Looks okay I guess, seems to retread a lot of the ground already covered by the old films, which I both understand and lament since it's been quite a while but at the same time it's basically the same story we've seen several times.

One thing I don't understand though, is how this franchise is going to be relevant to the grand scheme of MCU things when this takes place in the 60's. Are we going to have a 120 year old Mr Fantastic in the next Avengers films that take place in 2035 (MCU is 5 years ahead of real time I believe since the snap)?

The retrofuture thing is cool and all, but I just don't see how this can be linked to the current ongoing MCU and going forward.

It's like how Captain Marvel and Captain America 1 took place in the past.

Wasn't there supposed to be a Captain Marvel 2? ...maybe we got it and I didn't even notice.

But yeah, it looks like an origin story in the past. Silver Surfer shows up and heralds the arrival of Galactus in XX amount of years (2035). Somebody time-travels to the 60's to recruit the F4 and bring them to the present to help deal with the Galactus threat. Or something. IDK.

They'll need to decide whether Doctor Doom or Galactus is the next uber-bad. As of now it looks to me like Doctor Doom is getting the next couple phases and Galactus might get relegated to a single-movie villain in F4 2, which would be... meh.

There was supposed to be. Then it "became" The Marvels, with the Indian girl and black chick. The girl was the best part of that movie.

Wrong, They are in an alternate universe (this has already been confirmed)
Galactus shows up, they fight, Galactus wins and they (along with Doom) escape to the 616 universe (Speculation)

That is kinda what I’m expecting. Notice the Trailer sets up Leave it to Beaver: idealistic world where Good always triumphs, everything stays clean and shiny, etc. Even the color scheme. Suddenly, real power, from someone truly Evil, shows up and they are woefully unprepared. The world pays the price for it. Gobble, gobble. Now they need “real world” heroes to show them the ropes.

Or some such.
