I can agree with this. That said, I really don't think there is much of a difference between the crusts at different pizza places, even comparing mom and pop and chains. This is especially true when you get into the thinner, New York style pizzas because the crust is so thin you can barely taste it, anyway.

On the topic of crusts, I've never understood why stuffed crust isn't more common; it's incredibly easy to make and so, so delicious. When I was overseas I used to make homemade stuffed crust pizzas and it blew the minds of the foreigners who tried it.
Thin crust pizza is NOT New York style pizza, it's New Haven style pizza. I mean, New York style isn't deep dish but it isn't thin either. How dare you.

Maybe you live in a bad area for pizza because I've had a different experience. You can get a huge variety of crusts in my area. There are some pretty shitty small shops here, but a lot of good ones too. There is a mom and pop place here that does a unique crust. It's thin crust, but almost like a hybrid of pizza crust and a pastry. It's so good.

Sometimes I think you don't even eat pizza, you just post about it.

It's possible I'm just in a bad area. Off hand I can think of about half a dozen non-chain places within 20 - 30 minutes of my house. They all have slight differences in terms of crust, I suppose, but I honestly couldn't tell them apart in a blind taste test. Are they bad? Of course not! But that doesn't mean that any of them stand head-and-shoulders above the others and none are noticeably better than standard chain fare.

I think McCheese's obsessive fast food eating has ruined his taste buds.

I am thisclose to infracting people for posting shit from awesome BBQ joints and shit. Take the lovingly made shit somewhere else, this thread is for garbage food we can't resist. Assholes.
I'm ready for my infraction.

Called in an order to OK Joe's on 47th on Saturday, and the wait for pick-up was an hour and a half. I was thinking to myself, this is going to be shit, there is no way they can keep up on quality with this type of volume. I couldn't have been more wrong. We got a slab and a pulled pork sandwich, and both were very, very good. I think I'm still underselling how good they were.

While we were there waiting, two taxi cabs full of Texan fans showed up directly from the airport. Good times.

I prefer going to BBQ places when the are busy as fuck. At least you know your food hasn't been sitting around forever, which is a deal breaker for good BBQ.

this is also why I generally avoid going to places right when they open... chances are you are eating some of yesterday's food that has been sitting around all night.

That's the nice thing about BBQ. It's not like they have to actually cook anything at all when you order it(other than maybe french fries). Everything at a BBQ joint is pre-made hours beforehand, and all of that type of food is perfectly fine served that way. Your meat of choice has already been smoking for 8-12+ hours, beans can sit around all day on a warmer and not lose any quality at all, etc.

That's why it's pretty hard to fuck up BBQ. If you're making bad BBQ, it's because you just aren't good at making BBQ, or you use crap-quality meat. You won't have a bad experience because food was sitting around too long or anything superficial like that.

What area is it, in a general sense?
Washington D.C metropolitan area. Read: suburbs. For every decent mom and pop restaurant we have 5 Applebee's, 10 Olive Gardens, and a dozen Red Lobsters.

Today I was given a card for Chipotle that says something like "Bring this card and a friend to Chipotle and get a FREE burrito, burrito bowl, or salad with the purchase of one at regular price." Unfortunately, I don't have any friends so I wonder if they'll actually require me to present my friend if I go. I may treat myself to a double burrito lunch on Friday.

Where I am the McDoubles price already got raised to like $1.39 but regular cheeseburger is still 1 so I still get those and the cheddar onions.

One of the McDonalds by me still has the $1 McDouble, but the cheeseburger is $1.59.

It's crazy time here.
