I had Mission BBQ today for lunch. Great, great stuff, and probably the best large-chain BBQ/brisket/sides you'll find in a lot of areas. I especially love their baked beans and could easily, literally, eat a bucket of them.

I arrived at 11:59, and when I walked in everyone (workers and customers) were standing up, staring at the American flag hanging from the center of the ceiling, hands on their hearts while the national anthem played. I love America, but I was irked I had to wait a couple extra minutes to get my BBQ on. Apparently it's something they do every day at noon.

I'd never go because how the hell am I supposed to keep my shirt clean during the national anthem after eating BBQ?!?!

I want to try out some of these Fish Sandwiches that have been promoted, but where do I go and what level of disappointment should I expect? McD's and Arby's are closest to me.

I have no idea why but I really like McDonalds fish sandwich. Probably just because I've been eating them for 30+ years and they're ingrained into my DNA at this point or something. I'm told that I went through a "phase" as a 5 year old(over 30 years ago) when all I would eat from any restaurant was a Mcdonalds fish sandwich. Anytime my parents and I were going to a restaurant they'd have to run through McDs first and get me a fish sandwich on the way. I still love them to this day, they really haven't changed at all.

McD's Filet o Fish is legit. If they stopped serving everything else on their menu, I'd still go now and then to satisfy a filet o fish craving. If they have the Old Bay one in your area, definitely give it a try because it kicks it up a notch. I can't believe anyone would be disappointed with a Filet o Fish from McD's.

Does Arby's even offer a fish sandwich? I've never heard of it, and I'm not sure I'd trust them to do a decent fish sandwich. I've heard good things about Wendy's fish sandwich, but I'm not sure if that is only offered during Lent or not.

The Fish sandwich at McD tastes like 3 pieces of bread (one soggy) lathered in tartar sauce

It wasn't bad (not near as Tenks describes) but was pretty mediocre. The buns were actually more fluffy and tasted better than most of the regular sandwich buns from what I can remember. The fish though just tasted kind of like bland frozen fish with decent texture. Pretty much within expectations. I'm not a tartar sauce fan, at all, and mine didn't have the Old Bay version, but there was just a small amount to add some flavor. If it were smothered in it would be a terrible sandwich.

Wow, tartar sauce is the best part of any fish sandwich. You all have some weird tastes.

Tatar sauce is great, but I'm sometimes tempted to order the sandwich without it, just so they have to make one fresh. It's either that, or ask for it without cheese, and what kinda of idiot would do that?

Who the fuck would eat a fish sandwich at Arby's while the Beef N' Cheddar exists?

Not really sure what it is about tartar sauce that doesn't work for me. Growing up in the Gulf we had seafood all the time but can't remember ever having tartar sauce be a staple. Maybe it was a family thing. Although there was this one crappy little catfish restaurant in college and I always loved their tartar sauce on the fries. Damn wish I could remember where that was.

And since pools will be opening this month and Xevy mentioned it I'll give my yearly Arby's recommendation of Jamocha Shake + Vodka.

I think I might like tartar sauce so much because I was subjected to a shitty homemade version all the time as a kid. My mom would make fish sticks but instead of spending the money on actual tartar sauce she'd mix relish (the kind you put on hot dogs), mayo, and ketchup in a bowl and call it tartar sauce. So now I slather fish in the real thing every chance I get because it tastes so great in comparison.

doesn't matter, either way the fish is already in the heater, it won't be fresh unless you ask for it, which they will do. (pretty sure it's 4mins) Just ask to drop a fresh one in the fryer and you don't mind waiting 4mins, the reason is b/c you had a soggy one last time and you'd just want a crispy fry.

I still can't figure out why Texans love What a Burger so much. That is some shitty ass food.
When I was a kid I didn't like it so much. Having been around the country now, I rank it up there. At least on par with In N Out. YEAH I SAID IT.

Maybe you had a bad dose or something. I went again last year when I was in Florida, it was the best thing I ate the entire trip. So good.

I got one a month or so ago, and didn't like it. It was much larger than the Filet O' Fish, but much fishier tasting as well. McD for the fish win.

Hardee's and KFC are the only two places that I've been too that get biscuits right(never been to a Popeye's so I can't comment). Hardee's breakfast though is the best you can have. No other fast food place comes close.
