Never thought about Mica being put in. I use Mica for adding to epoxy on stitch and glue epoxy/fiberglass boat builds. Learned something new.

February is the month that some of the biggest bass in TX will be caught. State record of 18.18 pounds or such was caught in February. The goofy guy that caught it swears he was bass fishing and parylayed it into a job at the TX state bass hatchery in Athens, TX where he basically does nothing but meet and great and they can say he caught the largest bass. I've heard from a number of biologist with TX parks and wildlifd that have worked with him that he was crappie fishing under the bridge with a grub tight lining it, Lake Fork of course. Biggest bass I ever caught at Fork was a whopping 5 pounds. Wonderful day, got hailed on in the boat and on the way home. We stopped for gas and my friend turned on the bilge pump and it shot water about 20 feet out the back of the boat and drowned some woman that was going into the gas station. Good times.

I always pull the plug but I guess because of the hail and rain I got in a hurry. No telling how much weight we were pulling in the boat of water, that bilge pump pissed for a looooong time, 21' basscat can hold a shitload of water. Speaking of bilge pumps I was fishing Lake Nacogdoches which is about 2,500 acres 5 minutes from Nacogdoches the town I went to college at. At a dock at someones house there was a pretty new skeeter that barely an inch or two was above the water line. I stopped and hit the bilge pump and it ran and ran and ran and finally the boat floated. Probably fucked their motor, electionics and no telling what else. It rains there all the freaking time no way I would leave a boat like that out there with the bilge not on auto or something.

Two Lake Nacogoches bass. Not bad, 5 minues from my duplex when I was in college. I spent a LOT of time fishing. These two were back to back cast when my partner who was on the front with the trolling motor stopped to fix his backlask. One stump, two fish. I miss those days. Lake Nac 5 minutes away, Sam Rayburn 25 minutes, Toledo Bend 40 minutes, Lake murvail 25 (which was like the Lake Fork before Lake Fork was built, Lake Fork 2 hours, Caddo Lake on the TX/LA border 2 hours. Umpteen other lakes. Good times, lots of fishing. My major professor asked how I studied after I set the curve on a 3 hour test. My and another guy in the class go fishing all day to relax and talk about all the dumb shit in class. For the next two years he would tell people if your grades suck go fishing lol.

I have this one labeled s Murvail but it looks like the pic from Nac above. The Tshirt I wore all the time fishing to tick people from TX off so who knows. Water level looks different so who knows. Ever see 10,000 cattle egrets try to land on your boat and all the trees above you. I have at Murvail. In one way it was really cool. In other ways it was too damn much like the birds. I have pics of it somewhere. Never seen that fucking many they took up the whole lake.

So, I got my new molds and my first ones to make took a few tries, but I wanted to make Gary Yamamotos black Senko with blue flake.

these are much harder to make than the other soft baits I’ve been doing. I’m pushing a lot more plastisol through these molds and temps matter much, much more. Not only am I having to pay attention to the materials temp, but also my injector and the mold itself.

This is the product I’m trying to imitate/emulate

And here are mine, these are also salted as the first two batches were not only flawed, but also floated so I added some salt to sink them. I’m fairly happy with how they turned out. Maybe too much flake compared to the original, but I liked em.

Dude, hell yeah!

As far as bass go, it's hard to beat a senko. I can't imagine that's not going to fish well.

Proud Of You Yes GIF

Also you have Baron Harkonnen hands....😉

Hearing preliminary reports that this indian summer we have this week is already getting some sand bass moving up into the creeks in Texas. Cold front this weekend will shut that down quick but it feels like its going to be an early run this year.

My goal right now is to just clear out the freezer from last years catch.

I'm sure with the days getting to the mid 80s going for the large largemouth right now is pretty hot. As opposed to medium and small largemouth :)

Tried my hand at a 3.75” Paddle Tail Shad. First time using this mold and also injecting two colors and that took some getting used to but this seemed to turn out okay. I used a light green/white combo with a blue/green flake that shines between the two colors depending on the angle. I trimmed it up after the photo.
