Reminder: XP bonus is supposed to end Sunday night.

Kirun Kirun In regards to riposting mobs when you don't want to riposte (mobs summon when trying to skip) that was brought up earlier, it seems that if you are casting a spell from an item, you won't riposte things(?). While trying to get VT working, I would chain cast the Wiz epic, and never got a riposte into a summon, while casting the epic.

So i was chatting to a dude that was steaming today while doing the mage epic, hes a PAL/ZRK/MNK (heavy in the discord for these classes) and Im kinda leaning into switching my SK from the RNG/SK/BRD into a Pally. He mentioned that they fit better into builds that rely heavily more on Hdex and Attack. While the SK leans more into the Spell Power builds.

He said he started his build with the SK but switched him out to Pal just because of that. What do you guys think?

Paladins work well with Zrk Mnk due to 3 things. 2x damage mainhand when using a shield + Knight weapons having better ratios than normal weapons combined means you aren’t losing out on much damage not using a 2 hander in a frenzy build. And the Paladin isn’t competing with Zerk or Monk for spell slots. Current era, SKs are better passive tanks on anything that doesn't have high MR due to lifetap procs. Bards are already spell slot hogs, and with Ranger you want your two Arrow spells for additional bow damage. Paladins are going to want their stun spells mem’d along with their HoT and direct heal leaving you with a dilemma of what spells have priority. I prefer Paladin over SK when tanking, but I don’t think it is a good fit for Rng Brd. Just my two cents.

On the other hand, you could replace SK or Bard with Wizard and have a wonderful spell damage build. Depending if you want to focus on DPS or Tank side of the combo.

PALs do less DPS than an SK. I used to be PAL/ZRK/MNK.

You'd lose DPS on an already low DPS trio. You might gain a tad bit of sustain with PAL because their shield rune proc works on archery and RNG doesn't care if you have a shield equipped for DPS.

PALs really only fit into ENC/WIZ/ROG type builds. With all their changes, they are better in caster comps now IMO.

The pure caster build is falling apart for me on bosses/high level. I just don’t do enough dmg fast enough to kill mobs without being overwhelmed by received damage.

that and because pure caster I don’t have advantage of frequent heal/dmg props to help sustain or burn. So while spell dmg is king in this game it is really only so because of what it does to supplement otherwise minor dmg from hybrid spells and how it boosts the shit out of procs

was a neat experiment but it seems the master builds are some type of white Damage attack class(doesn’t have to be tank), some type of supportish class and then anything for 3rd. But you need the attack Class for all the proc related white attacks to either heal or dmg on boss fights. My triple tank can still survive anything! But the 45 minute fights blow. May try him again in pop as I remember tanks getting love from there out.

i could kill the dragons and stuff pure caster but from velious on I struggled even with twink gear without the “in between” dmg of a decent melee ish class

A friendly reminder that the Valentine's Day Event ends tonight at midnight CST.

Participation in this event has been absolutely mind blowing. Thank you all for being here and showing your love... and your disdain for it!

Due to the unprecedented participation and millions of years of buffs accumulated. We have decided to let these buffs continue to run until PoP launch! You all have earned, at least, that!

Titles and additional rewards for this event will roll out over the course of this week. So keep an eye out!

Additionally, I wanted to remind everyone that we have a thread in Discord dedicated to community (player run) events!

There happens to be one planned for today at 5PM EST at West Freeport at the Theatre of the Tranquil! Check it out in ⁠community-events .

For anyone that might want to run an event, we ask that you have clearly defined times/dates, specified individuals to help run it, rewards set aside, criteria for distribution of those rewards, and an all around positive attitude!

For anyone that might want to participate, make sure you reach out to the individual(s) involved in the event. While we, as a team, are happy to help facilitate by having open access to this channel and Discord and even give guidance to help make an event more fun, we ultimately cannot be involved in an official capacity for community run events.

the Bard cuck is coming along.... Not bad for like 1/2 week work. I did the AA while sleep thing on him a few nights. Great when the exp bonus is running. Prob like 100-120AA per night if spawns are good on the blobs.

Hes still got a few upgrades here and there, like rings, boots...Weapons...But I think hes ready to take on a trial run and learn what he can do. Still working on the mag epic for him but have most of the parts good to go, just have to run around now...

PAL works well with ENC because of the rune synergies and ROG benefits from the 1H/shield boost they get, juicing their MH for backstabs. Dopple is also super nutty right now. Dire Charm gets a little better in PoP too.

Definitely a solid build and one of the few PAL builds that aren't slow as absolute balls when killing stuff.

Don't think BL would mix too well with ranger. Ranger is all about bow damage while BL needs to DW and make use of bloodlust and you can't do both at the same time. It's not all that tanky and doesn't have much healing, so it might be fun to level up with but won't get much done after that point imo.

ROG/RNG is supposed to be pretty good, as every arrow has a sperate chance to proc a poision. So the big combo on disco for that one is WIZ, to pump up the poison as high as possible (~15k crits at ~70% crit rate). Also, the 100% crit AA may be bugged and causing poisons to auto crit, while not burring charges, so you just let it run the whole 2 min by not hard casting enough spells to make to drop.

The other sorta similar combo I saw on Disco was BST/MNK/WIZ, which is a proc based combo, built for bloodlust. You use double Gharn's for hard shit because it's an un-resistible lifetap or a Staff of Silent Star/Gharn's for "easy" bosses, due to 400dmg base proc on primary.

Both of these were reported to have some of the fastest VT clear times.

Okay, that makes sense, thank you. I guess I will swap out BL for Wiz, I was just wanting a pet of some sort, but didn't want to go typical pet cuck. Would Mage work as well, or will Wizard be way better? Maybe im over thinking the whole pet thing will make things easier?

Wiz is there to pump up poison crit and the damage of those crits, as only Wiz gets those huge buffs. It also allows you to be good at AoE, but I don't think there is a way to tank a huge amount of mobs (would need to AoE kite). I have only done SK/WIZ/x AoE though, so I'm not sure how the other combos play.

MAG is superior as a starter class to AFK level anything while you are at work or asleep. So if you have the plat to move the mage epic around (30k(?) to unbind it, I think), you can always start with MAG on every combo, then take the free class change once you get to 1500 AA or some such.

I have a petcuck, so didn't really look around Disco for other pet combos. The strongest pet is certainly the MAG (by far), but not sure a pet is going to make anything easier over what else a different class can being to the table.
