Beorn? Looks nothing of how I pictured him.
well he is sort of crouching and even then is a full head taller than gandalf who is taller than any human being. id say beorn is possibly well over 7 foot then. but yeah. i pictured beorn to be troll sized almost.

This is pretty much how I always pictured him (though not the hobbit), just somewhat taller:

I never pictured him with a shaved chest:

Looks like they delivered on the omgthatsafuckinhugebear!!! version of him though:

I always pictured Beorn as an 8 foot Hacksaw Jim Duggen, but with much more body hair and a bigger beard. That is a pretty big fail really :/

Thanks man. I did not mind so much for LotR as the extended versions were pretty dramatic in the amount of extra footage, and in my opinion, really enhanced the films, but I was a bit disappointed that the Hobbit Extended only included 12 minutes, which caused me to hesitate.

Probably worth it to wait till all 3 extended are out to get them as a set like LoTR are.
That will be a while to wait. Last movie in dec 2014, normal edition blu-ray 6ish months after, guessing an extended cut of the three movies bundled in a trilogy will hit holiday sales 2015. In 2016 you will probably start seeing a few select cinemas doing full Tolkien events showing all the extended versions of the Hobbit followed by the extended LOTR movies. That will easily be a 24 hour thing with breaks.

Well reviews are starting to come in as this starts on Friday or Thursday night, so far people are saying its better then the first which is a good sign
What I have read and heard as well. Was what I was hoping for... Though I liked the Fellowship better than The Hobbit, found each more better than the on before it. I walked away form The Hobbit feeling not too differently as I did the Fellowship. Again, better movie than the Hobbit but I enjoyed it and i'm really looking forward to this weekend.

I'm also willing to say this second trilogy with the franchise will do better than either of the added trilogies that came within the Star Wars franchise. Maybe i'll be wrong.

I enjoyed the first one and I'm sure I'll enjoy the second, but I also can't wait for the 4-5 hour condensed fan edits we'll be getting when this is all over.

To be fair this "added" trilogy has a much bigger following familiar with the source material than the additional out of nowhere star wars.
