My console patience ran out this generation after enduring more than 2 xbox 360s. I think i bought the system in its early days and ended up with a bill of around 800$ in canadian dollars. Might have been with a game. Prolly not. To this day i still regret heartfully this decision.

And in the end what for. I think the only ''exclusive'' i played was red dead redemption. A game isnt worth a system.

360 fail rate isn't indicative of consoles as a whole - total of ~7-8 years between my two PS3s at this point, only failure has been from a HD that I was able to fix myself once researching it lightly and my cat catapulting one onto hardwood from the media center which Sony repaired for FREE since it was in warranty, even explaining the circumstance being obvious neglect to most companies.

360 was just a finicky system that shouldn't be the litmus for console stability.

Alan Wake ported to PC several months after its release and was like 75% off on Steam a few weeks later. Iirc the publisher said they would never do another PC port again after that.

I'm tired and I could be making all of this up.
Yeah, you're completely wrong about Alan Wake, or have it mixed up with some other game. Remedy stated that they recouped the entire cost of porting Alan Wake to PC before the first weekend (Thursday release) was up.

I'm glad to hear that. I wish I could remember which port did so terrible, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Sean's analogy of "Why can't I play Mario on my Xbox?" summed it up nicely.

Even tho id love to play the last of us, comparing it to the legacy that is mario to explain exclusivity is pushing it. You expect a Mario when you buy Nintendo. You dont expect a last of us when you buy playstation.

Sony owns Naughty Dog. You need to buy a PS3 to play one of the most critically acclaimed games in recent history, from one of the most critically acclaimed studios. Whether or not you or me invest some sort of magical legacy, such as the one Mario has, into these games is entirely irrelevant really. The idea behind it is the same.

One of the devs tweeted that the ending we got was not the original ending they had in mind. They'll be talking about the original plot they had planned at PAX later this month.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaame:http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...ext-month.aspx

The Last of Us is one the most highly acclaimed games of 2013, and it's about to get its first expansion. Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli has shared news on what players can expect from the three content packs that are on the way.

The first pack will drop on October 15. The Abandoned Territories Map Pack adds four new maps to The Last of Us' multiplayer offerings. The Suburbs map features random dust storms, the Bus Depot will display the game's wild giraffes in the background, Hometown puts players in combat at night, and Bookstore adds verticality to the mix.

The second DLC is the story-focused segment. This will feature a new character who has just been cast. Naughty Dog expects to deliver this in December or January.

The final DLC pack will be multiplayer focused. Naughty Dog has also announced that a number of head items to customize multiplayer characters have been added to the season pass, including the exclusive Nightmare Mask. Be sure to read our review of The Last of Us and check out the hilarious alternate ending.
First DLC pack is multiplayer nonsense garbage. The story DLC pack won't be until fucking December/January (probably January). The whole season pass shit was lame to begin with, highly doubt there's many people who care about multiplayer for this game at all.

At least the story DLC is confirmed to not be Elly & Joel, I am glad that their stuff is properly over.

Glad I didn't invest in the Season Pass - only really care about #2 of the 3.

I did, unfortunately, but I did know that it would be 2 multiplayer packs before hand. I just figured that Naughty Dog deserved the money. I do think the MP packs are pretty stupid though, I can't imagine that this game could ever have much of a MP playerbase and I think the developers have just totally wasted their time on that part of the game and these upcoming DLCs. Time that could have been put to better use making more small stories or something.

The MP was OK, but I after going through the long long slog to Platinum it (seriously it's like... 250 MP missions or something) don't really care about seeing much more of it.

I was going to try for Platinum, but I just could not stomach more than a couple games of MP and there was no way that I was going to throw myself into 250 games of it.

It might have been a neat distraction for some people, but I bet the vast majority didn't touch it and it just really feels like a waste of resources.

The multiplayer was quite well received by a significant chunk of people. Playing 250 mp games and "getting tired of it" really isn't the MO of your average TLOU player.

Once I got past the "not a FPS guy" thing 50-150 or maybe even 200 was a fun experience for the mostpart - I did enjoy most of it but the end bit became a slog, but then again I was going to knock it out quick and really wasn't mixing in any other games - so literally was like 6 hrs a day doing it for two weeks straight just grinding for the trophies. Really became a slog.

If each journey was half the length (or there was something more interesting mixed in like some small SP missions mixed in at a few points) I think it would've been better - it was good, just such a long thing to do for trophying. [Although that might be in some parts intentional - can't imagine someone getting the plat on a Redbox copy because of the MP]

Finally got around to playing/beating this. What a great game. Does the single-player DLC take place after the end of the game or is it some prequel shit? Have they said yet?
