I was half-expecting Joel to die at the end, and I'm glad that they avoided that shitty cliche, and that there were no multiple endings or any of that nonsense. The one ending they wrote was perfect as far as I'm concerned.

100% agreed.

If they killed him off or had him get infected I would have been extremely disappointed and definitely would not feel as I highly as I do about the game. That trope/cliche is one of the worst ones out there for the genre. This was purely more of story about Survival in a broken down world than a "Zombie" story anyways and Joel & Ellie surviving at the end just makes sense and was a good way to end it.

Finally got to play this. Really lived up to the hype.

Playing this then going and working retail kind of scared the shit out of me. If the shit hit the fan we are fucked.

I knew that Naughty Dog were top tier devs, but I went into this expecting all of those perfect review scores to be off. Boy was I wrong... I don't think I've ever played such an emotional and immersive game in a very long time.

I still haven't picked this up, but I'm currently playing through Uncharted 3 and it has me really looking forward to this, if UC3 is this good.

U3 is good, but Last of us is next level shit.

Nearly everything that the uncharted does well, last of us just does better.

Oh and if you have never dove into the Uncharted series before, start with 2 not 3 the story is better because imo it's a better game, and just read a wiki for the first one to catch yourself up on the story I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as 2 and 3.

Maybe this has been addressed already but I haven't read anything in this thread for fear of spoilers. Why aren't they releasing this on PC? Even the most half-assed of ports can't take much dev time and are usually fine as long as you play them with a gamepad. It just seems the reason to have exclusives is to sell consoles. At this stage in the PS3's life the exclusives fail at that purpose. I'm guessing if they franchise this game that the next one will be on PS4 so it seems getting PC gamers hooked into the series will help to sell PS4 consoles. I just can't understand the business side of not porting it.

Naughty Dog is owned by Sony (or Sony is their publisher, I forget), who makes the Playstation, who wants you to buy a Playstation. Console exclusives rarely (I won't say never as I there may be an exception) get ported to PC because they want you to buy their console.

Edit: Add to that that most/all [console?] publishers think that a PC port wouldn't move enough units to warrant the cost/risk of porting (there is 1000x more QA involved in making a title for a PC than a console where the hardware is always the same),andthe mentality that PC gamers are nothing but pirates, too cheap to shell out the $60 price of a console game, and well... you can see why many console games don't get ported.

Alan Wake ported to PC several months after its release and was like 75% off on Steam a few weeks later. Iirc the publisher said they would never do another PC port again after that.

I'm tired and I could be making all of this up.

Alan Wake was one of my all time favourite games. I'd pay for the Last of Us if it came to PC.

Same.

Cant justify buying a ps3 at this time for a game tho. Sad to miss a good game cause of exclusivity with so many crappy games being ported left and right on all platforms.

Meh, The Last of Us (granted, combined with the upcoming release of GTAV, and the added benefit of PS+) made me buy a PS3, and apparently, did the same for a lot of other people.

Asking why you can't play The Last of Us on the PC is like asking why you can't play Mario on a Xbox.

I actually worked on this game for a little while (3rd party) and I thought it was tremendous, the way they portrayed the brutality of humanity in a morally unchecked environment just put it way above anything else for a while, at least for me, and I was a huge sceptic because it came off early on, as yet another zombie game before I sat down with it.

I understand that but it's more of a track record kind of thing. Nintendo has plenty of exclusives and it's more of a part of their business model. That becomes a problem for PS3 and X360 when almost every game is ported to PC or the opposing console. I own a PC and a Wii and I can play 99% of released games. It's just annoying for me when a great game isn't ported to PC off the PS3 and X360. It's so incredibly rare that it doesn't justify the console cost.

My main point was that if they ported this one and then made a PS4 exclusive it seems they could sell more of the consoles they want to sell. Don't they make almost all of their money off selling games and not the consoles themselves? It seems selling PS3's at this point won't net many game sales for that customer with only a year or two left on developed games. It seems someone who buys a PS4 on release and has 6-8 years of game development for it will end up with more bought/gifted and making them more money. Also factor in that many PS3 games now sell for a fraction of the cost they were on release and even if someone went buckwild with the old PS3 library they wouldn't be making as much as selling a bunch of $60 release games for the new console.

Keep in mind that Sony will continue to manufacture and sell the PS3 for years: they stopped making the PS2 in January of 2013 (PS3 got released in November of 2006).

Borrow a friends PS3 and rent the game if they dont own the PS3. Unless you dont have friends. Once the PS4 launches people wont give as much shit about letting their console out to their buddies for a week.

Sony's exclusives are just as much as part of their business model as Nintendo's are for Nintendo. They have had the most and best exclusives for quite some time and it is a major selling point for their systems. You seem to be confused as "almost every game is ported to PC" is ridiculously inaccurate.

I knew it would one day bite me in the ass to have friends who only game on PC and dont have consoles.

I have no regrets buying a ps3. Once I knew I was ditching Microsoft and getting the ps4 I grabbed it, got PlayStation+ and a gamefly sub. tons of games I missed and I'll just eBay it or sell it locally once I'm done.

If you only game on pc you're missing out and will only miss out more and more as I expect less and less developers well bother porting as time goes on.
