Soooo spirit vine = uranium? I get the feeling that nothing good is going to come of Varrick's experimentation. Also of note is that Republic City is the nexus of spirit vine for the whole world (probably because of the Raava Vaatu showdown that took place in the harbor) so at some point she will need to conquer Republic City. Which is already immediately adjacent to the Earth Kingdom as the district for it was carved out of the Earth Kingdom to begin with.

Note that the Firelord hasn't said a single word. She looks very much like an academic and not the sort of person readily prepared to deal with Kuvira's crazy.

Toph's return was everything I hoped it would be, now I want to see her take on a whole fucking army instead of just bullying the avatar.

Meh. I mean I suppose this is the direction they were pointing towards, and with the limited season length they don't have a lot of time, but I really didn't want her to get over her issues so quickly.

Well, "quickly" is a relative term. She was suffering with all this for 3+ years (4 or 5 if you count the 1st season stuff). In terms of what we actually viewed as an audience, sure it was quick, but it's not like all this stuff manifested and she was ok in 3 weeks Avatar-world time. For her, it was many many years of rehab and PTSD.

It also foreshadows where I think we all see this going: Equality, Spiritualism, Freedom - Fundamental aspects of the modern world that are incompatible with the world that came before. I have a feeling that the Avatar is going to bring about some pretty epic changes to the world before this is all over with and not everyone is going to be happy with the result

Well the earth empire guys let slip that Kuvira is moving on Xiao Fu, so presumably that will be either next friday or the friday after that. Don't know how they could possibly get Korra there in time for that, so presumably Xiao Fu gets conquered.

I think it will be more about how Avatar should influence the world, instead of just straight up moving continents and obliterating people, it will be about teaching people moderation.

Episode was good, but the ending was a bit too cheesy. Friends show up, you start believing in yourself and suddenly everything is right in the world ? Come on, you can do better.

You have a good point. The world has clearly grown too accustomed to having an Avatar. The Fire Nation went on unchecked for nearly a century before Aang thawed out and dealt with it and then set up Republic City and all the aspects of modern life that go with it.

When the Avatar is out of action, especially during the times when the new Avatar is growing up, things go a bit nuts. They cant move forward relying on some chick or dude with glowing white eyes to handle life's problems. There also needs to be a reason why Korra is seen as "Legendary" given the title of the show. Perhaps she is the Last Avatar or does something to so remarkably change the fundamental nature of the balance of the universe they reside in to make it so that her reality seems legendary in the way that Avatar Wan's everyday life seemed like something out of a storybook to Korra. Perhaps she does something to eradicate the distinction between Benders and Non Benders, or between the four distinct nations.

Pretty heady concepts for Nick, no wonder they banished it to online.

She already is sort of legendary, right now she is the first in the line of avatars because the original one got purged in season 2.

Every villain needs a way to defeat the Avatar once they start dishing their can of whoopass on the world, fur Kuvira it's the Varrick's A-bomb, depending on where and how it will be used, there will be consequences. If the people have power comparable to avatar state, she definitely can't continue the way avatars used to work, so she will have to focus on preventing those issues.

I can see the spirit plants being used to break apart the metal shells used to defend Xiao Fu.

I am curious to see if there is going to be a bigger use for them beyond that.
Also curious to see if Kuvera is going to start invading other lands / spirit world or something outside of just the Earth Empire.

With all of the spirits free, I would have expected them to have a more important role.

The spirit plant will probably weaken spirits and bending in some way and then metal suits will just troll everyone.

I was just thinking maybe they could do like final fantasy 6 (was it called 4 over here) the one with kefka where they were killing / crystalizing the spirits to power their machines.

Solid episode

Kuvira: I think it's time to send you to a re-education camp
Bolin: I thought that is where we sent people to learn trade skills...

Excellent episode. Wonder if Julie (sp?) is speaking the truth or planning something behind the scenes. She's a kickass fighter, lol.
