Zhu Li. I sincerely hope she's playing an angle, but realistically I assume the writers decided to change her into a real person this season, which is why she has dialogue. And, sadly, a real person probably would be sick of the way Varrick treats her, which means she probably isn't playing an angle and the awesomeness of Varrick and Zhu Li is gone forever.

Hope I'm as wrong now as I was when I predicted the entire season from the trailer.

She will probably go back to Varrick when he realizes he needs her and kind of admits he didn't appreciate her. I would lol if they ended up doing a role reversal, though.

Seriously, I can't fathom how Bolin could have been so stupid and did not notice something was wrong before.

Plus Korra is retarded for trying to even play the mediator....uuuugh.

She's not retarded, she's just ignorant of what all is going on. And making a retarded decision because of that ignorance.

There's a thread on reddit with people speculating that Korra could go to Zaheer for help, even if it only ended up being to talk and not the profoundly nonsensical idea of letting him out of prison to actually help directly. This was my favorite response to the idea.

"Sup Zaheer."
"Ah, Korra. A welcome sight in this dark cavern. Why did you come?"
"To talk about the Earth Kingdom that you beheaded."
"Ah. Well, as I said before, Korra - the natural order is disorder. Soon, all the world will..."
"It's a dictatorship."
"...Say what?"
"Yeah, turns out people didn't just revert to anarchy because you kill one Queen. Some chick showed up and reunited everything. It's an industrialized, conformist movement following the ideals of material progress and social unity. They have complete control of the populace and already began imprisoning those with differing opinions. It's the very antithesis of everything you wanted for the world and the exact opposite of what you predicted as a result for your coup."
"So....you want my help defeating her?"
"Nope, just felt like rubbing your nose in it. Let's call it payback for the mercury."
"You got to be kidding me."
"Nope. Bye!"

Nah, when people you trust, who witnessed everything while you were away being all emo in a swamp, tell you that someone is a power mad dictator that can't be reasoned with and you just tell them "naaah, I'm sure I can reason with her", you're just being a retarded bitch. It's made even worse by the fact that the "I'll try to reason with the obviously bad guy and get somewhat manipulated in the process" is a fucking overused trope.

So yeah Spirit-Vine = Uranium. I get the distinct impression that Kuviira doesnt think of herself as a power mad dictator but rather sees the good of the collective outweighing the sacrifices needed to be made by individuals who get in the way of her vision. This, of course, means she IS a power mad dictator.

Varrick having a conscience is an interesting development for him. I really don't think Zhu-Li has gone completely over to the other side. She's just too damn smart for that, even if she was tired of Varrick and his treatment of her she knows that what Kuviira is doing is just wrong.

God-fucking-dammit Bolin, the correct decision was to let them kill Varrick. Which they would never do. He could solve this season's issues in episode 5...

As a side note having nothing to do with the current discussion....
I was at Azumicon in OKC this weekend and they had both Janet Varney (voices Korra), and Dante Basco (voiced Zuko, and oddly enough was Rufio in the old Hook movie) there for the voice actor panel.

Afterwards Basco meandered around the con (sans escorts and such) and came by the booth a buddy of mine runs there. He was actually a really nice guy, turns out that Zuko isn't as much voice acting per se as it's actually his normal voice.

Just thought I'd chip that in.

Another good episode

Korra needs to get her shit together, though...she got her ass kicked until she went Avatar mode, then she still had PTSD. Zhu Li's plead to not hurt her during the trap, the half-assed claps, and how she walked away after saying she would help with the spirit vine project kinda cements in my mind that she is still loyal to Verrick

Excellent episode. I'm wondering if Zhu Li will be the hero of the day in this? Or will Toph actually come to her daughter's rescue? Yeah, Korra needs to get her shit together, haha.

Toph coming and beating Kuvira senseless would make the series for me. This season is getting pretty awesome, I honestly don't know how they intend to deal with Kuvira.

Well obviously Bataar gets the superweapon built and Korra manage to conquer her PTSD and stay in the Avatar state to win the final fight.

How many wrong predictions can I make about this season? Let's find out!

instead of her kicking Kuvira's ass straight up maybe it ends with the avatar instead saving kuvira from the plant bomb / some other weapon of hers and probably toph dies for some tears

not super creative but they should do some moral lesson about the avatars true power / purpose isnt kicking their ass but getting them to realize their faults and redeem themselves

Yup. I was hopeful her shit ass PTSD was gone after removing the remaining poison, but looks like they intend to milk it to the end of the season.
