The more I think about it. The more I believe that Zaheer was/is a god damn A++ character. Seriously, he was written impressively. One of the only characters that I continually think about.

I think most of it is because he's by far the easiest Avatar villain to empathize with. Admiral Zhao, Azula, and Ozai were all just black and white villains, same with Unalaq. Amon was a bit less black and white, but it's hard to empathize with him when he's trying to take bending away from your protagonists.

Zaheer breaks himself and his buddies out of inhumane prisons, doesn't appear to actually want Korra dead until the very end, and then even when he does it's nothing personal. He also has a love interest, and honestly who the hell doesn't empathize with anarchists.

Well, A:TLA was strictly kid show, so obviously the villains were a bit less relatable, but all of them were benders, so they had strict place in the power pyramid, below the Avatar. Amon was somebody who seemed to posses powers until then available only to the avatar, which broke the rules, Unalaq was a cartoon villain in the second half, but until then, it wasn't that obvious and, once again, he actually became another avatar for a while. Zaheer was a man with a plan, balls to do it and charisma to make others follow him. Definitely the best villain, but the other guys have shown that the avatar isn't invincible, which helps his cause.

The original series built the world and established the rules, the new guys are trying to break them, which is why they seem much more interesting.

Just got done watching all three seasons of Legend of Korra. I can't believe I've waited this long to watch it, so... so good. Is the original series as good as Korra's?

To be honest, the original is better, but it's more kiddy. Korra is definitely more mature. They're both good, though.

I don't know that I'd call the original better, they're very different. TLA definitely starts more kiddy, but the real difference is that it's one long story and not a different story each season.

Korra taking a three year jump seems sensible. I agree that the trailer has a highly fascist vibe to it. Certainly the world-building that has gone into both of these series is top-notch.

I really do hope they have a mechanism to continue with another series following the next Avatar (which would be Earth based) in a few years

In regards to that other comment. Was Toph in that trailer and I'm just retarded? I watched it twice and didn't recognize her. I'd figure she'd be all old and shit by now.

Did you not hear what Korra said at the end?
