Convince those same 100,000 hard-working, intelligent patriots to murder a journalist and get back to me. I just don't buy it.
Ironically Snowden the whistleblower becomes an example of why this conspiracy is unrealistic. It's just such a leap above the worst I've seen done from this government. If they started making a habit of doing that level of evil, it'd get out sooner rather than later.

Being a liberal though (albeit an antiauthoritarian one), I don't like labeling the government as generically incompetent. Lots of government programs work well.

Doing what level of evil? They are doing everything possible to him already. The only reason his assassination is off the table is because he already leaked, Hastings didnt publish his story yet

If you dont think we assassinate journalists from above with "ObamaDeathRay tm" guess again. We waxed this one just 2 years ago:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samir_Khan

Or this one:http://boingboing.net/2010/04/05/wik...ideo-of-u.html

Thats just the ones we know about and are able to prove.

Hey, if someone told you in 1969 that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated by a government conspiracy because they were trying to silence him, what would you say to that?

The CIA tried to kill Charles Dugalle while he was democratically elected president of France FFS.

And we are in a war zone now chaos " the war on terror" grants government all kinds of powers they wouldn't normally have, here is the lawyer who wrote the legal framework for the Essentially illegal during peacetime war powers like NSA spying that are now being codified as the new normal for society as we speak. He testified this to congress to show you the new mindset for presidential authority.

http://www.informationclearinghouse....ticle11488.htm

John Yoo publicly argued there is no law that could prevent the President from ordering the torture of a child of a suspect in custody - including by crushing that child's testicles.

Cassel: If the President deems that he's got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person's child, there is no law that can stop him?
Yoo: No treaty.
Cassel: Also no law by Congress. That is what you wrote in the August 2002 memo.
Yoo: I think it depends on why the President thinks he needs to do that.

The point is he didn't argue that it was illegal he argued he just didnt see a reason why the president would want to do that, but he left it open that the president could do that if he thought he wanted to. The question was asked by the congressman out of frustration to illustrate the scope of the war time powers John too was arguing to legitimize.

And since the war on terror is completely open ended and will probably last as long as the drug war if not longer, this is the kind of power that legal creep has done to ruin the checks and balances of government, and ultimately our freedom and rights.

But is there a law in place that prevent the President from deploying the Obamaray?
I don't know if we can call it the Obamaray. Who knows how long this thing has existed, it could have been under Bush or even Clinton. Think of all the car accidents since the deathray was invented. How many of them might have been caused by the CIA? I'm just asking questions man.

Can we just have DNI tell congress that they do not have the ability to hack a car. That should end the debate. He would never lie to congress

And does everyone here have a night job they can go through 3 pages by lunch?

Do you not edit any posts anymore? It was a radical example given. If you think a president just says jump on this child's balls, no one around him tries to give him other advice and that everyone down he chain of command jumps without batting an eyelash you are crazy.

I didn't say those things. Yoo argued that they reserve the right to do that, if deemed necessary, they said that not me. The question was deliberate in purpose to illustrate a way of thinking, not to be taken as a literal which you keep trying to make it.

Do you think the president should have that authority? Lets say a really scary president gets elected that you don't like? maybe you trust Obama with that authority but would you have trusted MITT Romney? Or Jeb bush? The office lives past Obama you know and if this " constitutional law scholar" can come in and be the worst civil libertarian president in the history of the us what happens if a person of lesser character gets into the White House?

I'm pretty sure that the "No Death Panels" clause in the ACA would prevent Obama from deployment of the Death Ray.

"No Death Panels"
LASER CLAN.
Whoa now, so are you implying that when Sarah Palin was ranting about death panels, in actuality she knew about the death ray but couldn't admit it due to its secrecy, yet still she tried to do what she could to get it stopped? She is damn lucky Obama didn't take her out. True american hero for even taking the risk.
