Are you advocating harboring criminals here? It seems like you are. You have always been a moron though so not sure if I am reading it correctly.

Let me get it straight. You don't want the government data mining because some people might be guilty of bad things.....
I don't give a shit about criminals. I don't give a shit about terrorists. I protect me, not some fucking G-men who can't get a real job.

I didn't give my permission for my information to be stolen and data mined. Fuck these people. Fuck them right in the ass. These fucking snakes should have their fucking heads cut off.

Too bad some other white swan pained black will come out of the woodwork to deflect the ire of the American people. Methinks another mass shooting, minor celebrity death or somesuch action against Syria.

I dunno. Afterall, Obama campaigned to get rid of this very thing. Obama also said the war on terror is over.

As this story gets more and more traction I think you will see a big hit on those numbers. Especially as more info comes out.

What should be more concerning than the fact that it is happening is that it is most likely legal. Our Congress is up there tapdancing like a bunch of fucking tools right now claiming they had no idea what they voted on, as if that makes it better.

Bush proposes and gets the Patriot Act passed.

Its the Democrats fault
Considering Obama actively campaigned for renewal of the patriot act twice now and has pushed presidential privilege further than even Cheney had the balls to in raping the bill of rights, and more Democrats voted for the original patriot act than voted against it in the senate, I don't make any distinction between the parties with regard to civil liberties. Some Democrats pay it lip service to keep their constituents happy just like some Republicans pretend to love small government and family values, but it's bullshit on both sides.

I heard someone on TV tonight say that the information that there is about everyone out there is collected regardless of what the government does. I think that is a reasonable statement. I also think it is reasonable that in the interests of international security that governments around the world would want reasonable access to the available information. I haven't thought about this much before so I guess I am curious as to the reasons why I should care?

http://www.dancarlin.com//disp.php/c...ecurity-spying

The latest Dan Carlin "Common Sense" episode goes over the various reasons why when viewed in historical context the potential threats of such an spying apparatus.

Dan carlin is a kind of historian so his show is littered with contextual relevant events and relevant institutions, he goes over the many instances when the government was caught lying, over reaching and downright acting criminally at times.

He brings up the history of things like the FISA court which was a mild compromise restraint from the completely unrestrained intelligence service scandals in the 70"s, and why it's important NOT to view it as oversight(for example in the rare 0.5% instance that the 1 sided secret court decides not to let the government do something, the government can appeal to a second secret apellete court so the court is basically 0 oversight, when even in the rare chance you are told NO, you can still go around that "oversight")

Brutul is right here. If you lean towards the left and are okay with this, you need to re-examine some things. There is absolutely no way this would be acceptable under Bush, why the fuck are you giving Obama a pass on this? He's not been what he claimed he was going to be, and even though he's still a better option than McCain/Palin, he needs to be held accountable for this kind of shit, and since the right has zero credibility, the left has to do it.

There"s a perception leftists are for less tyranny because they often criticize government in general, however I noticed Many leftists a are also ok with central authoritarianism, it's often the nature of "collectivist" thinking to setup large public gatekeepers.

Amateur historian and podcaster ... you really are some kind of hipster conspiracy theorist aren't you?

Do they wear robes and the fake hair in the secret court?
