USA-223, known before launch as NRO Launch 32 (NRO L-32), is an American reconnaissance satellite which was launched in 2010. It is operated by the United States National Reconnaissance Office. Whilst details of its mission are officially classified, amateur observers have identified USA-223 as the fifth Mentor satellite.Mentor spacecraft are used for electronic signals intelligence, and carry large antennas to enable them to intercept radio transmissions. These antennas are believed to have a diameter of around 100 metres (330 ft).[2]Bruce A. Carlson, the director of the NRO, described the spacecraft as being the largest satellite ever launched.[3] USA-223 was launched by United Launch Alliance, aboard a Delta IV Heavy carrier rocket flying from Space Launch Complex 37B at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The launch occurred at 22:58 UTC on 21 November 2010.[1]

NRO patches for the mission.

Sometimes I wonder what the cool uses of that data could be. If an all seeing eye is watching you but also has a speaker that's like, "dude, there's exactly a 56.536% chance to get laid tonight if you do these 5 things."

Masonic symbols sort of lose their "oooh-aaah-ooooh" mystical/mysterious quality when every state trooper is given a membership in the masonic lodge along with his hat.

AKA Fuck snowden for making us do this, what an asshole that guy is.

I don't like reactions based off a scandal being exposed. It makes the admin look even worse in my eyes.

What makes the admin look bad in my eyes is th trying to play it both ways constantly. Hey guys, it's all good don't worry while then saying well were gonna take a look at it because we need more transparency and are going to have more secret meetings about it. The IRS targeting one political side is inexcusable, and were going to make sure it never happens again...even though this is a totally fake scandal. Etc, etc...

You don't really seem to understand what the fuck is going on if you think that's trying to play it both ways. With the IRS targeting, the government went out and said that profiling certain groups based on certain key words is unacceptable. But that isn't the extent of Republican outrage. The Republicans aren't just pissed that there was extra scrutiny directed at the tea party, they're claiming (without absolutely any proof whatsoever) that the extra scrutiny was a result of Washington's direction. So the administration IS saying that the targeting is inexcusable, but the suggested scandal that the IRS is acting at the direction of the administration is the fake scandal.

As for the NSA snooping, the administration is saying that there has been no abuse of the information gathered. All the leaks show is that there is a potential for abuse, not that any abuse has occurred. Therefore, to further ensure the public that it stays that way, they are adding more checks and making the program more transparent. Again, not playing it both ways. The people bitch, the government attempts to make changes to appease the bitching. This administration has actually been particularly sensitive to the people's bitching. Seems like this is how a representative democracy is supposed to work to me.

NEg, this is Cover your ass tactics for sure. Now he has plausible deniability because he's been on the record stating that he believes the system in place works exactly like it is written on paper which in his mind is legal.
So now, if snowden reveals anything illegal, the pres will be "omg guis I thought it was straight".
Theres a bunch of people that believe there are reptilian lizard people and the president hasn't covered that. Snowden has taken too long, and the Admin has had the time to make a strategy, otherwise the whitehouse would have spoken sooner.

Speculation about the existence of evidence isn't evidence. And in Snowden's emo armchair-constitutional-lawyer mind, what he's already revealed proves what the administration is doing is illegal. If there was more incriminating shit to be released, it would have been released in the initial salvo of leaks. Nothing I've seen really impresses me.
