TBH, the more I see what people come up with in subsequent movies, the more I think that Predator was a lightning in a bottle phenomena that can't be reproduced. Most of the appeal of the original was you had no idea who it was for half the movie, and you had no idea what was behind the mask for 99% of the movie. So unless you go in a completely different direction by going the comic book Yautja route, either you're making the same movie basically over and over again (Predator, Predators) but without the single most important factor that made original so good (the mystery of Predator) or you need to just go full ham into the mythos with shit like AvP, Yautja, Predator homeworld, Predator Wars, whatever, etc.

This is the exact reason why aliens was successful. It was a sequel, but it was a completely different style of movie. Alien was a horror film, aliens was an action film. And it's why all the other alien films have been more or less forgettable, they did nothing to add to the franchise.

Wasn’t expecting animation, but lower budget way to explore that. Although how does the Predator in WW2 going after pilots expect to get a trophy?

I'm never gonna like that choppy low framerate looking style of animation, hate that it keeps getting pushed in various ways.

Not going to be down on it from a teaser and frankly I think this looks cool as hell, they are atleast trying something WAY different and that should be applauded.

Same director as Prey. Predator protagonist is something that can be very cool if done well and the visual style is pretty badass too tbh. Fanning looks like a Wayland Android. Dude who is mocapped for the Predator is Samoan

Director / Studio is pitching it as this
"film is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."

These are crappy films, but they are my kind of crappy. Looks metal. I am in.

I mean I guess you're right at least in the fact they're trying something different but it's not really that different than what's already been done in comic book form.

Also, I agree with Void that it looks like DEI predator. Almost looks like the predator is a female predator, I don't really know. Maybe it's a male Predator it's autistic because of the predators from the last movie Shane black did where the predators were stealing the power of autism, but now they realize that was a big mistake, and that's why that Predator is an outcast.

I didn't watch the last goddamn movie, I'm still really have no desire to. To me the franchise ended with the third movie, which despite being a bunch of callbacks, was still a fun film.

Maybe it'll be entertaining to see the Predator fighting all kinds of alien monsters instead of just humans, but I'm not going to hold my breath, let alone go and see it in the theater.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, both this and aliens had everything mapped out, and they had just stuck with canon, it would have been easy street for the franchises.

Its supposed to be a "teenage" one, and the actor is a big dude lol. The faces have never looked great as CGI but its the only real way to do a movie like this. The "girl" will be recording and reporting everything it does back to Wayland Yutani I am sure, its not going to be killing, they seem to be pretty fragile.

Wayland androids in the Aliens films have been shown to be much faster or stronger than humans, but not significantly more durable. Although they could easily design units to be better at certain things within limits. I wonder if in the film it ends up they specifically placed this unit on that planet with the express purpose of trying to observe the Predator aliens due to their history with Xenomorphs.

You wanna get real mad?
The Thing prequel was a labor of love and they spent the time to do all the effects practically. Studio came in and said noooooooooope and made them redo em as a rush CGI job.

I’m glad the obvious was caught as in once you get good enough to catch it you won’t need to go to the early life section for levels of catching the obvious you all are

The point being you have it reaching its hand down to pick something up …kind of alien looking hand forearm but not what I call a predator

Then it’s running through some vegetation that can defend itself and you get a “wait a minute is that supposed to be the predator ?! Looks like brown black dude running with dreads”

Then you get to its face and yelling with the ridiculous cgi and then when you add in the actor

You can hear the executives and writers yelling “maintain his essence don’t lose what makes him him”

Kevin fucking Peter Hall is a mega black dude and was the predator for the first two legit predator movies and his job was to be a tall fucker to be the coat hanger for the actual predator not hired to be seen

This new predator they maintained the actors actual skin color and incorporated him into the predator and probably even mocapped his face so it’s him doing the yelling and other “acting” of the face

Its like when that manlet Asian Ang Lee director stepped in and did the “acting” for the awful looking hulk movie and he was responsible for the emotions conveyed on that goofy looking hulk
