LifeStraws are pretty solid. Easy to use, decent price, filters a lot of water.
lifestraws useage are pretty bad compared to the competition. Don't get me wrong i have 2 straws too as a "last resort", but from what backpackers/hikers say (since they use this stuff regularly) get a sawyer mini spec wise it filters better at 0.1 micron vs lifestraw 0.2 micro, the lifestraw has a 1000litre lifespan while the sawyer has a 100,000litre lifespan, you can only suck through the lifestraw, the sawyer does suck along with squeeze, attaching a regular water bottle to it and gravity fed, the weight is about the same, and the sawyer mini is like 3bucks more. adding a few water purification tablets and you should be good for a few years. (of course they also have an entire life for producing a lot of water for campsites and families as a water fed system... cuz theres no way one person can squeeze that much water through a filter for a family)

sidenote...

my walmart was out of water in the usual place, they put it in the front and just pallet load the water now cuz ppl are buying it up.

shelves are still fully stocked tho

Went to a grocery store around 10am to buy most of my non-perishables, only things I noticed emptied were chicken flavored ramen, and bleach. Went to a different grocery store this evening with the GF. Only thing they were super low on was regular bleach. As we walked in we saw one family STUFFIING their car with food. Not sure if just coincidences or first signs of people that are quietly getting ready.

The next week should be relatively OK but I would not wait until the weekend after next. Further developments and shared concern will pile up eventually. Waiting until the situation even whiffs of not being contained in US/Can will be too late, and reports of people rushing to the stores will snowball.

I work in IT. We had a customer this morning request we setup VPN's for all their employees in preparation for an extended work from home period. It's happening.

When CNN has the word PANDEMIC in 72pt font, shit will hit the proverbial fan.

Went to Sam’s today and they weren’t running low on anything except pinto beans and top ramen.

Rice and salt were the two things almost all gone at my local Walmart. Everything else looked normal.

That is an outrageous price for a 200 watt solar panel. Check Ebay. I think you should be able to get that for under $200. Maybe under $100.

I know panels can be had cheaper, but a waterproof briefcase setup with a frame and controller? I’m still looking, but I think the 100w unit would probably be enough for my uses.

You have to fry spam you nerd. Think of it like bacon. You can eat a quality bacon raw, but why the fuck would you?

Discovered Musubi like a week after I moved to Hawaii and I ate that shit every fucking morning until I left. I really got into it because I used a KTM525 as my commuter when I was there and it was easy to grab a couple pipin'-hot musubi to throw in my backpack on my way in to work.

On a related topic, why have I never seen bacon nigiri anywhere? Or bacon in a roll. Seems no brainer.
Because there isnt any pig left over for bacon after the Tongans make 200lb of pulled pork in a pit. ;)

this is what we use for backpacking and "prepping" (we'd obviously boil in real shtf situations)

life straw is a pretty dumb product

Life straws are gay. There's a hundred better options. Try to refill your canteen with your life straw, or even better, your bros canteen. /barf
