I still use my TI-83 Plus. Anything else feels like the equivalent of going from a smart phone to a flip phone.

Looking to buy a nice pen. What is this pen tip type?
Did you take that picture? If you did can you look for a brand or number on it?

Get a nice fountain pen. Here is a really good starter fountain pen for you that's cheap for you to see if you like fountain pens.

Amazon.com: Pilot Metropolitan Collection Fountain Pen, Black Barrel, Classic Design, Medium Nib, Black Ink (91107): Office Products

Here is a good place with different types of pens that are real nice. You'll get an idea of the styles and types from here.

Levenger - Professional Accessories, Bags and Totes, Folios and Notebooks, Writing Instruments, Workspace Organization

The fountain pen is the mechanical keyboard of writing!

I thought you had to learn to write with a fountain pen. 16 bucks? Looks good. Done.

EDIT: Actually thx for the tip. I opened it up, it a Quill durable roller ball. The casing was a custom made job my job had made for the sales guys to hand out.

Are you wearing timbs and a hoodie?

Edit, that's what you've said you wear before I'M NOT RACIST.
What is wring with Timbs and a Hoodie? Most days yes. If I don't have to hit project meetings and shit for the day.

Learning to write with a fountain pen is like learning to use a fork.

Nothing, just could factor in to the equation of what pen to get. You don't want to be in a meeting in timbs and a hoodie and pull out a huge gold and diamond pen, do you know what I am saying?

Serious question: Why haven't the TI-83 type calculators been replaced with apps on smartphones? What are the reasons to even use a separate sci calculator at this point? I never use one, so I'm just wondering.

They do have apps - problem is in academia most professors won't let you use a phone during a test

The calculator keys enable you to type quicker. I'd also guess a lot of people get familiar with a calculator in school (fx-115es for engineer intern test) and don't want to learn new shit. I've found the calc apps to be pretty shitty.

It's muscle memory at this pt, ppl who have used TI83-TI85's have used that same calculator for near 20yrs (my wife has)

i saw my wife blaze through calculations once using it.

You can't do that shit on no smartphone app

Yeah, basically that. Keys will always be faster than a touch screen. I'm not going to carry that thing around with me, but when I'm sitting at my desk, damn straight I'll use my TI-85 and be ten times as fast as someone on a smartphone.

Do you use a touch screen to type with on your desktop computer? No? Why not?!

My computer is a lot more powerful than my phone in every way. The input device is not really the deciding factor there.

It's not like you need huge computing power for word processing or spreadsheets. Input device is absolutely the deciding factor. I wasn't asking why you don't use your smartphone for those tasks. I was asking why do you still bother typing on a keyboard when doing those things. Same reason I still use a scientific or graphic calculator instead of an app on a touchscreen smartphone: it is way the fuck quicker and more accurate to have actual buttons/keys.

Oh man. I don't have it with me now because I have almost zero use for it at my shitty job, but I'm almost certain the calculator I still use at home is this one from 1987:
