Alesis nitro mesh kit....
Well I bought it but with my kids money. He wanted it since he got all kinds of cash for xmas.
Ive been playing drums since late 80s, mostly acoustic though. And hes been getting on there for the past year or so. So he wanted something he could jump on anytime and not bother the entire house with his playing...
So its a nice electronic kit. Last time I played on an electronic kit was at a buddys house that had some cheap kit from the 90s which he bought for the control module more than the drums. Things I noticed with the old kit was that the triggers would not go off sometimes, not accurate, and there was a slight delay between you actually striking the drum and it playing, not really bad but definitely noticeable, noticeable enough to be annoying. Plus the pads were rubber and didnt feel like a drum. Which is huge for stick work, you kida want some spring back so it feels like a real drum, or else when you jump back on a acoustic kit your technique will suffer.
This kit suffers from none of the problems. Its accurate and no lag. Plus it has mesh pads that feel like the real thing, well all the toms and snare except the bass drum. nly problems I have with this is the mounting hardware which is all plastic, strong plastic, but plastic nonetheless, so it might have problems with longevity. The actual tubes for the structure are all aluminum though. Another thing I dont like about it is the unresponsiveness of the hi hat pedal. ITs definitely not like a real kit, will take some getting used to. But thats jsut probably a technique thinng which makes you be more accurate between closed hi-hat and open hi hat, which on a acoustic kit, obviously has more leeway.
Anyway, pretty nice kit, plenty of sounds, upgrade options of adding another cymbal and another tom, which can be all programmed any way you like, so even if you want one of the toms to be a cymbal you can do so. It has inputs so you can play music along with you playing, and outputs so you can record your shit on a PC/laptop for garage band type programs.
