Random crap, got a bug to get a foil shaver for quick touch ups. Amazon wanted full price or more but Walmart actually had free 2-day shipping and was $90 for the blinged out gold version.

Did you get it professionally set up? You have to be careful with stuff like truss adjustment and neck twist especially on less expensive guitars like that. It can make playing certain frets very difficult. Also, fret dressing can be a problem on them if you are getting stabbed on the ends.

Idk how "professional" it was but when I picked it up from guitar center I let them know I was a complete beginner and asked them if there was anything I needed to do before I started using it. He looked it over and said it looked good. it seemed like the most common issue with this guitar, based on online reviews and feedback, was possibly needing fret dressing, but it was good straight out of the box

Ill have to double check the neck twist and truss adjustment when I get home, thank you

Yea neck twist is easy to see because the top of your fretboard should basically be in plane with the top of the guitar body the whole way down if you look from the headstock down it. Truss adjustment isn't super complicated (tuning and intonation adjustment might be after), but you can find guides on YouTube about inspections/setting and setting string height. That said I would recommend bringing it back to GC and making them deal with truss rod if it is off for the first time. And with neck twist I'd just return it tbh.

Also, you mentioned being new. I assume new to guitar? Expect the finger pain to continue while you build calluses.

I unfortunately have a thing where calluses disappear basically immediately from my hands which is great for the ladies and not so much for guitar. Heavily playing daily I can get them for like 3-4 days before they start to disappear. I had to give up 11s eventually because I just don't play enough.

You're not unique in this respect. If I take 3-4 days off from my violin, my fingertips are sore the next time I practice.

Same, screw lids from pepsimax bottles. If I don't keep it up the callus goes bye bye from thumb phalanx area. Ahum. I'll see myself out.

fuck those shits, i always use a shirt or a sleeve

meanwhile my wife is learning guitar and i come into the room and go "why aren't you practicing"

i'm not trying to tigermom her, it's just that she asked me to bring up the guitar (from the 1st floor) so i'm like hell if i have schlep it up, you go practice

and shes like, i just took a shower and i have to wait for my skin to dry

Weird. I won't notice a difference for at least a week, though it also depends on how hard I go once returning. And bass for me so different strings to deal with.

Yea I dunno what it is, I don't have 'greasy' or oily fingers at all, in fact the opposite, which I'm told is the usual reason people break down calluses easier.

10th anniversary Ship John. Only 100 made and sold out in about 10 seconds but Shop Pay got me through quick enough. Won’t be in until June but I’m excited. On the wait list for a regular Wills but may not need it after getting this one.

GE dishwasher to replace the cheap, builder-grade POS that came with my house; the old one still worked but was plastic tub and ridiculously noisy.

Usually not a Haier fan, but this thing is actually pretty nice: third rack, adjustable second rack, stainless tub, steam prewash, dedicated jets just for the silverware basket, print-proof stainless, 70-90% domestic content. 44 dB - it's not totally silent, but it's pretty close; my old one was 55-56 dB.

Plus, GE's discounts for military/first responders are really good - it's a percentage off on top of the sale price with free delivery. You still have to pay for install/haul-away, but I paid something like $750 all-in.

I really like it thus far.

I tried it just for shits; my IoT stuff is on a VLAN. The only functions it provides for dishwashers are:
1) A custom "Cascade Platinum Plus" program that was co-developed between GE and P&G; it's a little shorter (maybe 10-15 mins) than a normal cycle but seems to work just as well. It probably could be used for any kind of Cascade pod, not just the Platinum Plus (nice, I guess, but you basically just need to download the cycle once, and then it's good to go unless you want to switch back to the rinse-only cycle).
2) The ability to enter the number of pods you currently have, and have the system automatically order you more pods whenever you run low (I don't really see the point of this)
3) The ability to start a cycle remotely either using the app or with Alex (I also don't really see the point of this, and I don't use voice assistants)
4) Will send a push to your phone if the dishwasher detects a leak or another type of fault (nice).
5) The ability to schedule service through the app.

I still start cycles using the control panel on the machine itself.
