What is the preachers motivation? Why throw them under this bus? They saved his ass several times.

Also, is the sound editing terrible for yall? We had to turn on subtitles just to understand some of the warehouse dialogue when the guy was dying.
The words spoken while dying was always bad.
As to the preacher man and a specific answer
In the comics WHY the preacher thought Rick's group was the devil was a bit different. It played out in comics where he led Rick and some to the school where Rick massively slaughtered everything while in demon mode. In the series it played out inside the church like that. It was more obvious why in the church Rick butchered them though which is why I wasn't sure last page if preacher would even bring it up once in Alexandria.

This is why I am confused about it since it was in the comics but made little sense to put it in the TV as the comics since what Rick did was butcher 4 people who wanted to A eat them and B had been already eating people in front of Gabriel.

Either way Gabriel's story is pretty much done now. In the comics he runs the church service and pretty much is only seen when they need to reassure people the place isn't total hell on earth and for words of encouragement when someone dies and plenty do. Comicwise he is still alive and only leaves Alexandria once for awhile when it is uninhabitable but returns once they retake it down the line.

The preacher is just projecting his own guilt. He's a bad person, therefore they all must be bad people etc.

Not a huge spoiler but I left it out above if you read the spoiler. If you didn't disregard below
He does redeem himself in comics when they come under attack by zombies and he lets Abraham and another into the church in time to save them. The same thing he had guilt for to begin with.

While I want Rick to hit that, I think it would be hilarious if the wife was abusing the doctor husband, but we only find that out after Rick kills him. Like, he shoots him, and then someone rips the guy's shirt off to get at the wound, and we find all these bruises and burns all over him, and the kids run screaming to his body because he was the good parent. End season on Rick's expression.
Wow +1 for you, this would be amazing writing. So you know this will never happen on TWD...

If I'm ever hanging like a side of beef, surrounded by zombies shoot me in the head please.

I'm wondering how anyone is left in Alexandria, if their rule is leave the fallen behind.
I thought so as well then I realized if they had just left dude behind without trying Noah would probably be alive. But they lost 1 person in exchange for attempting to help someone which ultimately failed. It is a pussy move but somewhat understandable to just cut your losses. But on the flip side Abraham went full Rambo and no one got killed. So it is a gray area.

Keep in mind it was Glenn's first loss ever. No one else has ever died with him there. Hard lesson to learn.
As for the cool Rick bro story, won't happen cause that isn't the way it's already happened in the comics. One reason I have hopes for the new WD series coming this summer, no comics to guide the future of it.

I'm just not sure how the spin-off will really define itself as any different than the current one. Sure we'll have a separate cast of characters but it will still be running away from zombies in hope of finding safety.

And not to mention they're really just following high level framework of the comics here. There isn't anything to say how the storyline in Alexandria went down in the comics has to be lock step here. Though recently they have seemed to reel back their creative liberties and follow the comics closer with the Preacher, Hunters and now Alexandria being very similar to their counterpart.

The new one is set entirely in a large city which the current one has mostly avoided with exception of like 3 episodes over the course over 60+. Also different culture/type of people.

Also pretty sure they'll follow the comics on the main show from now on pretty much. Obviously they can't follow it completely as some are dead that are still alive in the comics and so forth some a long time ago.

Well some people are taking on different characters. Like that black girl (Sasha?) seems to be taking on some of Andrea's role as being the group sniper/lookout. Doubt Rick will bone her, though. They've done it before where they spread some of the character traits out to the new people who are left alive.

This show is a good example of how writing can elevate an actor's performance. I had always thought Seth Gilliam was really good, but he's bad in this show. I don't think it's his fault, I just think they've done a shitty job with the character.

Yeah he was great on The Wire. Not so much here. Everything comes off very forced with him.

It's the curse of the religious guy on TV shows. They can't just have a normal dude who lives a moral life and loves Jesus... they have to go over the top and make them all batshit insane.

It's the whole let him who is without sin cast the first stone thing, cept he is full of sin, and guilt. Looking back on it and the comics too I think he did it to bury his past since he found a place he can once again preach on.
As for bad acting, can't say I really blame him given the character and stuff.

What if casting your sins on a human blood sacrifice and loving him makes you inherently immoral?

Anyway apparently they're going by the comic with the character.

Holy shit, didn't even realize that was him in TWD... probably because every time the preacher is on screen I try not to watch because it's so bad.

Same with I'm-A-Scientist. It's one of the worst characters I've ever seen in a tv show, but the actor on Talking Dead actually seems smart and charming and like he's just a really good actor to make that character so shitty.

I don't really mind Eugine. Maybe because his character on the show is very parallel to the comics so I'm already used to him.
