I kinda liked Carol and the kids scenes, though. Her scaring the shit out of him was good stuff. Now we're going to get less of the hardened version of Carol as she broods, laments and monologues about the kids death and her hand in it. Perfect opportunity for these writers to get overly hamfisted and melodramatic. Need more George Miller style as TWD really is better the less they open their mouths.

(I agree with you, mostly. It would be a lot harder to find some real spears and shields then you'd think, but make shift ones seem pretty logical to make. Hell, even magazines wrapped around your forearms, ala Brad Pitt in World War Z would be some amount of protection.)

Spear is good if you have range, but they were wading into the zombies like it was fucking Braveheart. Something smaller and more easily able to be used in short range is better.
Rick using the hatchet was dumb, though. Too easy for it to get stuck inside a zombie skull.

I have yet to see anyone with a spear or shield in RL, just sitting in their house. Everyone has knives though.

It's weird, because my biggest complaint was the switch from day to night.
What the fuck were they doing for however many hours it took to become pitch black at night? Were they just wandering in circles? Then the wolf and nurse just sat there...for hours?

a shield is tarded easy to come across. trashcan lid, there ya go. a spear? any metal rod or stick will do. scrape it across the pavement til pointy.

Hard to find shields? You guys are joking, right? Remember that time they took over the prison and made a note of how hard it was to kill a walker wearing riot gear? And the one black guy picked up a riot shield, was like hell yeah, and was then killed off and riot shields went extinct? The characters aren't bad or dumb, the writers are.

Pretty sure they'll all talk about what happened and she'll be afraid that she was the one to screw the kid up into being the type of fearful ninny that freaks out among zombies. And Rick will do the same because he killed the kid's dad. Etc. It'll be an overblown moralistic point that drags the show down for a few episodes until they find something else to over react emotionally too.
