I said I was done after S1 sucked ass but I decided to give it a shot for S2, and the first episode or two was a big step up. I thought S3 would be amazing, especially after reading the comics, and it was really bad. The episodes just got progressively worse. I don't know if I won't be back or not, but I am definitely not excited in any way about the next season of this show.

The only hope I have is that Gimple is taking over from Mazzara after this year. Gimple's episode before the finale showed he understands the characters and how to get those characters across to the audience in a relatable way. For example, it was pretty fucking clear to me that Michonne knew how to handle a guy like Merle (asking him questions, but backing off short of pressing him for information) because she's dealt with people like Merle before. Maybe her dad or one of her brothers (of which it was kind of implied her zombie pets were related to her, which made it even cooler). They didn't have to TELL us that specifically, just let the dialogue and, dare I say it, the acting present that information to the careful viewer without drowning us in it.
Conversely, Mazzara thought it would be cool to have fucking Andrea have a ten fucking minute conversation with a dying John Ritter's brother rather than, you know, ESCAPE. Just piss poor writing, piss poor planning and a piss poor finish to what COULD be, in the right hands, a really great study of the disintegration (and I guess reintegration) of human society.

I watched season 1 and thought it was ok. Watched the first episode of season 2 and said fuck this retarded shit (pretty sure immediately when Carl got shot, I couldn't take it anymore). It wasn't until my wife decided to watch the first two seasons without me a few months ago, that I felt the need to catch up on season 2. So I did, and it sucked. But the 2nd half of season 3 was about to start, so I figured I'd go ahead and watch the first half before it did. After that, I was invested for the rest of the season. I have no qualms about quitting this shit again. I did it for over a year already.

I'm not going to reiterate all of the terrible points already mentioned, but the two that stood out to me were:
1) If you're going to kill Andrea, why let her get completely out of the handcuffs first? She's killed enough zombies to have been able to kill him with just the pliers and her ugly feet. Should have left her tied up so she at least could have been a badass by killing him, but still getting bit. Made absolutely no sense for her to get free and then get bit. Unless they really needed a reason for that pool of blood under the door.
2) If you're trying to convey that the kid handing the gun to Carl is totally complying and doesn't deserve to get shot, don't direct the actor to look like he's trying to goad Carl into getting closer like they do in every secret agent movie ever. I think it is pretty clear they *wanted* us to believe the kid was innocent and just complying, but he *looked* like he was trying to get Carl into range to disarm him. To me that's just terrible, terrible directing. Now it ruins the whole point of Carl being slighly psychotic, because hell, I might have shot the fucker too if he edged any closer.
Two pretty small little things in the scheme of things that I think would have had a fairly large impact on how those scenes were received.

I was rather disappointed in that as well. It appeared like a fairly ambiguous situation and I was not remotely surprised when Carl shot him. I was surprised, however, by Hershel's emphatic endorsement of Carl's malice. The follow-up scene between father and son discussing the incident was terrible and incongruent based on what was depicted.

S3 - a good start followed by a bunch of build up climaxing into two annoying characters killing themselves and no resolution with the main villain.

Man. The season finale of this was terrible. I mean, the show is bad, but I didn't think it could get worse. I thought, going in to the finale, that some interesting stuff might go down. What a fool I was. Such a bad episode. It reached a new high (low?) of cringe-level. So many instances of poor writing, dumb character behavior, poorly delivered lies...The only good part was when carl shot that kid in face. Good job Carl.
I watched his and the GoT premiere back to back, with TWD first. Save the best for last I thought. Comparing the two shows, and the hour of TWD seemed to drag on and on, while the GoT premiere seemed like 5 minutes. Just leagues apart.

I've written down every name of people who said they are done and never watching this shit again, and will be negging every faggot who comes back and posts in the Fall which will essentially be every one. I think people who continuously come here and say they hate this show it sucks, should be banned from the thread.
