As someone with not much investment in the series, I'm getting strong vibes that CDPR has gone woke (artstyle, tone, language, etc., not just because "a woman"). I've been right like probably 95%+ of the time I've gotten this feel, so we'll see.

The games don't come "after" the books, they're non cannon because they take liberties to what happen to Geralt, Yen, and Ciri after their deaths which is how CD was able to convince the writer to let them make the games in the first place.. That being said, even in the context of the games, this version of Ciri who can use signs and drink potions doesn't make any sense.

Ciri was always gonna be the hero of Witcher 4 (plus 5 and 6 if they get made). Not sure why people are surprised or upset about this. If the game turns out to be a DEI-fest then the market will reject it, if it's a good game in line with the earlier Witchers then the market will embrace it. All this negativity when all we know is that the main character is the expected one...is pretty goddamn stupid. As far as her being less-attractive, she's significantly older than before. In Witcher 5 she'll be even older. For a while the woke people really needed to lighten up, now it's the anti-woke people who need to take a chill pill.

I really have no investment in The Witcher, but I was seeing complaints about how they changed the lore so that The Witcher was always supposed to be Ciri in the story. That and she's able to drink Witcher potions, which are supposed to be male only.

so I read a dev article. They are not revealing how or why, but that she has in the decade more since the end of 3 take the trials of grass and potentially lost her elven powers. The running theory is saving the world sapped her of her natural powers, though as in the books she still has magical power ability like the witches that is just blocked by a spell. They think maybe after losing her powers she takes the trial and survives due to her elder blood. The reason Witcher’s are only male in lore is like the mutations kill women due to their wombs or some shit because it makes you sterile where the damage is more to a woman than a male. And how Geralt and Yen would never even consider letting her take th trial.
that said, in Witcher 3 the elf guy who was a little monster for awhile survived it, so there is precedent that elves might be able to live through the trials.
so will be interesting to see how they go with this story. They hinted that she starts a new Witcher school. Perhaps she’s fallen out with Geralt due to her choices to undergo the trials?
