I was sad when the blockbuster in town closed in 2018. I liked driving by and laughing at it.

blockbuster had some fantastic going out of business sales and they had decent clearance bins for blue ray movies.

neflix was known for their crazy fast turnaround if lived near a hub. i didn't and found Blockbuster a better deal as also got 1 free in store rental per week.

AMC seems to think that $5 for a small popcorn is something that will compel us to come visit their cesspool.

I actually subscribed to blockbusters mail order DVD plan. You know, where you pay 10 dollars a month or wtf ever it was and you could pick 3 dvds to be sent in the mail, then you'd send them back and get 3 more, etc.

I wonder why netflix beat them at essentially the same thing. I can't even remember for how long I was a "member" of that.

Video rental stores were the thing to do once. We are getting old and nostalgic for sure.

watch the netflix documentary for a better explanation. long story short, preasure for short term profits at blockbuster had them remove the ceo and bring in the former ceo of 7-11 who killed the dvd mailing business that was losing money but crushing netflix on growth and market share. netflix lived because of stupid short sighted profits.

it's also why the streaming took off. moron execs feeding netflix cheap as fuck content for long periods like starz selling a assload of disney and fox titles for a measly 30 million. these assholes in their short sightedness created the thing they cannot compete with or kill.

I mean concessions is how theaters make money. It's not like their shit hasn't been overpriced for decades.

Sure but, $5 shit isn't getting anyone in the theater. Might as well lower that and get some sort of revenue going.

Why do you think a lot of us were saying it was cheaper to watch Mulan for 30 bucks than taking your kids to the theater? Hell tickets alone, non-matinee, are like 10 bucks. 5 dollar drink is probably like 2.50 off. They stack the price on the small drinks and popcorn. It'll be like a buck or something to upsize. I mean I can't remember the last time I bought food at a theater. I usually pocket a bottle of water and grab some sour patch kids at the gas station.

I thought that was all for 5 bucks. Cuz 5 dollar drink and popcorn is alright. Not each though. They can fuck off.

No way they have the nerve to charge 5 for just the drink, isint that more than pre covid?

I'm not stepping foot in any of them until they drop the retarded mask req. anyways. They can keep the lower density though, I never want a stranger next to me at a movie show pre or post covid.

I'm pretty sure that is $5 for the drink and large popcorn. Because the other advertisement is for the Kids Meal pack thing that's $5 for all smaller sizes.

I do have an AMC within walking distance, maybe I'll check walking the dog!

popcorn at the drive in has consistently been throwing my keto diet off the rails, so hopefully rats get in the silos

I bought a Whirley POP from Bed&Bath for like $20. Put in some oil and popcorn, put on stovetop, turn crank, you have fresh popcorn in a few minutes that beats the shit out of microwave popcorn.
