A lot more people are starting to use seedboxes so if you aren't using one you are probably way behind the power curve.

It's like an arms race.
Well I have been considering doing that, it just hasn't been even close to an issue until this last week. It is odd that it happened literally in the last few days. I suppose I should look into it.

So... a problem.

I really want to invite people from here to some unnamed, but very nice trackers to be on. But the tracker rules do not allow this to happen on a public forum. I realize taking the forum off of the google search results would deprive the website of well-deserved revenue. Is there any chance we could get a "File Sharing" subforum that is only unlocked after you've been on the board or a year? Or a forum that you have to apply to see?

I want to invite our members. I just don't wanna break tracker rules in doing so.

Do it through PMs? Screen people if you want by having them link you their ratios or something? that way it's not posted directly to a "public" forum, and won't break rules.

Crone has a good idea. Let me know if you want screenshots!

I could go over the reasons that I'd favor a private little area, but it basically comes down to two things:

1) A private area discourages invite sellers from exploiting our user base for their financial gain. Trust me, it happens. It would also prevent deadbeat users from getting an invite here, running the account into the ground and making a new Rerolled account to get another invite.

2) PM's toe the line of legality when it comes to most trackers invite rules. On some level I would have to make a post on a public board to get those PM's. That's no bueno since the forum is indexed on Google. People would find it and sign up for Rerolled for that purpose alone.

I'd prefer not to set up private forums for tracker information. If you want people to invite, I would contact them via PM to send you an email and then discus details that way.

the big TV tracker, BTN, was down for most of the past 2 weeks with DDOS's (also hit what and ptp and some others). so thats probably why IPT was seeing so much more traffic. BTN is back up afaik so you should see better results next week.

Not sure if this is the right place: Sometimes when running uTorrent(3.2.1) it will randomly speed up and slow down/stop, and this effects my internet speed in general on this computer when it happens. I start it up and it will start to climb up in speed like normal but then usually within 10 seconds or so it will start to just die off back to near 0. Will hang around at some shitty superslow speed (60kB/s right now) a lot too.

This doesn't happen all the time and as far as I can tell there's no unifying reason when it does, though I haven't done a ton of checking. When it happens if I close uTorrent the rest of my internetting goes right back to normal speed. Usually when I start a torrent it just hits peak speed and hums along until done. Really just curious if this is a common thing and if there's some super simple fix for retards like me.
Wondering if anyone else had a suggestion for this problem. Thought I had it solved by increasing the cache size to 256MB(and then to 512MB) like gogusrl suggested, but downloading a movie today caused the rest of my internet to shit out. The torrent itself was humming along(NOT at the cap for my pipe), but nothing else would work.

One of the main reasons I went to a seed box is that I've always had issues with torrents crapping up my internet connection, while not even coming close to maxing out my bandwith. Got to the point I'd often have to reset my damn router after leaving my PC on all night seeding/downloading torrents, because I'd have basically no internet access the next day, even with my torrent program of choice completely shut down. Seed box + FTP is great.

I used to have that problem too. The issue was the fact that the provided modem/router from my ISP had poor/no QoS settings. Those are basically congestion settings you can turn on or off--and give certain types of traffic higher priority than others.

Bought a cheap router to run DD-WRT on. Flipped on QoS and gave bittorrent the lowest priority setting. Problem solved.

So Galgor, should we be sending you PM's for an invite to the super cool new site?

Well it's not new. Chances are your already familiar with them. But technically PM's on a public board are against some of the trackers rules too.

I'd love to share. But I can't until I can find a way to not break trackers rules.

i had that problem with utorrent, for that and a bunch of other reasons (utorrent bloat) I switched to qBittorrent and haven't had a problem since. Its not quite as feature rich as uT, but its definitely more lightweight and does everything I want except delete torrent+data with one click.

I use TVTorrents (private) for all of my TV needs. I love the fact there is only ONE copy out there of any show in each resolution. You might see one 720p, one standard, and finally a 1080p BluRay version once those are released. IPT, you need to search through a million uploaded submissions to find the right quality rip you want. Shows are typically uploaded within hours after airing. You can also add your TV show "favorites" and simply use the "New Favorite Torrents" link for the latest uploads you are looking for. They are pretty lax on the seeding too. You need to keep an overall positive Upload ratio (not per individual download). So I basically seed high demand stuff like entire seasons of Top Gear, Game of Thrones, etc to keep in the positive numbers. Hell, I think I am at 1.4TB of upload credit.

I've started following this thread not long ago, because I couldn't find Game of Thrones Season 1-2 on Usenets, and for reasons like that, torrents are fantastic.

But of all the clammoring for a private track from galgor, to issues with the bit torrent client, why are not more of you switching to Usenets?

Is it the cost? the idea that you have to pay for it, and you don't like that? Because I have 64 shows according to Sickbeard that are active that I follow, and I don't have to manually search for a single one. I don't have to worry about ratios, or worry about HBO snooping on my torrent and busting me. I feel like you are really limiting yourself if you are not taking advantage of both resources.

I will worry about it when the time comes. In the meantime, I have yet to fail to come up with what I am looking for between IPT and TVT (both private). Ratios on both are exceptional and I have 100MB Fiber and a carrier that doesnt give a fuck what I download (overseas FTW).

Oh ya, no doubt, there are some fantastic trackers out there. I suppose I just feel that the automation is worth it to me. It finds all the shows, downloads them in the quality that I specific, and then moves and renames them into the correct folder for that show, and then deletes the extra shit that came with the download. I don't have to keep track of when shit airs, or if a show is on break or not. It's literally like a DVR. lol
