Get a Kindle Paperwhite if you just want an e-reader. I've tried the tablet e-reader stuff and I can't do it, but the paperwhite is great.

I tried a couple of ebook specific sites and they either never had what I wanted or had crazy restrictions that made it a pain in the ass to use. I use TPB for a lot of my books. Yeah, it's TPB but at least they have shit.

IRC is the best place for books. There are multiple posts about it, probably in this thread. Search for irchighway I believe. If people really can't find it, or someone doesn't post it first, I'll eventually post it when I find all the info again.

+1 for kindle paperwhite. I Also have the Nook which isn't bad but the lighting on the kindle is a little better imo.

Just recently discovered that Amazon will allow you to email any kind of document to your Kindle for reading. For the longest time, I thought it was restricted somehow to books you bought, but nope.

Go hog wild on IPT or some other source, and just email them to yourself. Works perfect, and then with the Kindle app for android or iphone, you can sync your spot in your book between all your devices, no matter what device you are reading on.

As for devices, I often times read in bed, while laying horizontal, not propped up, and so for me, any device beyond my phone was uncomfortable after a while. I always have my iPhone with me, and so that ended up being where I read. Works great for me, but for some, it might be a little small.

What are the best sites for music? IPT is god awful and Demonoid is marginally better. I know what.cd is the best but it sounds like no one has invites for that around here. :-\

Does no one DL music anymore? Everyone uses Google/Spotify/Amazon? Some of the stuff I listen to is just too hipster I guess because it's not even on there.

I tried forever to get a what.cd invite but eventually gave up. Have a waffles account and I basically have found it impossible to get any sort of ratio. As in, I've literally got 0 upload after leaving stuff seeded forever. So I just snatch and grab crap all the time.

i have a nexus 7 and a kindle paperwhite (wifes), first get moonreader (pro if you wanna pay/pirate) and use that as a e-reader on nexus, its way way better than kindle app and supports epub/mobi/azw natively so no conversions needed.

two good ebook trackers are anonamouse and ebooks-heaven, dunno if invites are open or not but they have everything and its easy to keep ratio (bonus points as you upload, convert BP to gb uploaded every few days). They have 100% of what i read especially scifi/non-fiction so it works fine for me, and every book comes in epub (and sometimes mobi) format so I can just upload straight into my nexus and go. If I really like the book I'll buy it on amazon, but about 75% of the time I just think its shit and delete.

i personally prefer a nexus to paperwhite since i can run apps and browse internet and watch porn/Seinfeld, try em both out at a store and see if it makes a difference to your eyes. the paperwhite is closed environment so not sure you can even get epub files into it, i don't wanna convert shit so another reason why I like the nexus.

if you get the latest nexus (2nd gen) you can get a qi wireless charger, shit is baller

What do you like about moon reader so much more than Kindle app? The convenience of emailing myself the book at my kindle email address, and having it show up right away in the app is pretty damn awesome.

Of course, I could just email myself the book, and download it from my Gmail too. I typically find it annoying to have to be connected to the computer for the tablet.

its mostly just that moon reader supports epub format without any conversion needed, i don't think kindle does. thats really it, can just download and read no extra steps (if you buy all your books then its not important). i use es file explorer or dropbox to access the torrent'd ebooks on my PC, i keep em seeded on the PC 24x7 to build ratio

es explorer also lets me access my raided video content so i can watch TNG/Seinfeld/cartoons/Farscape/etc on my nexus, don't have to go through plex

Ya, that was kind of annoying, that it wouldn't take anything but Mobi, but it was a short conversion process in Calibre. So I suppose I'm just trading 1 step for another.

Have yet to make the jump to any cloud storage. Have 50gb for 2 years or something at Dropbox, but I don't want to lose my stuff if I don't feel like paying for it down the line.

anyone got any invites to those book trackers? I have a seedbox so there shouldn't be any issues maintaining a ratio
