I have watched it only once just now. From what I remember they introduce every name in order. If they reference it without the person being in the room then they did it before with him in the room. The therapist calls him by name, vaughn calls him by name, then he calls him by name for the one to rough the reporter up. Casperre was the same, they showed a picture on the wall of him and you can see his face in the car, and then you see the license with his name on it. I don't think they could have been any clearer on it.

I don't believe vince vaughn's character (frank) kills the guy who raped valenco's wife, he just hands him a picture with details presumably of where to find him. This obviously had to happened years ago since it (duh) occurred before his kid was born, the show implying his kid is actually a rape baby and not his genetic son. We don't know what happened to the rapist, the show suggests valenco was a "good" cop before (NO MUSTACHE ==> mustache is sign of bad character as we all know) and the rape/revenge chain of events turned him down the dark path.

It's not implied that Vince killed him. He references the guy several times in the present tense, as in, he's still alive. The paper attached to the photo has an address on it. He does say " I wanted to do this, and now it's done." He's referring to giving Farrell the information, not having the guy killed.
Letting Farrell kill the guy himself makes him dirty, he crosses the line, so more likely he'll cross it again, and again. Making him useful to Vaughn.

There should be more throwaway references to Lost. Like lotto numbers turning up as someone's license plate ID+registration date and the locker numbers of cops who get killed in a driveby. But then never explain it or reference it beyond that and have those elements be explained separately as part of the actual story. Fuck with people.
