Ninja and shroud will be huge again and hearing how they fleeced MS will entice even more people to tune in.. at least for the initial comeback stream.

I doubt either will do youtube.

The biggest losers in this are the smaller mixer streamers that will get literally 0 audience on twitch, also the mixer games that garner 0 interest on twitch.. like Smite and Paladins.

And of course the viewers, because losing competitors is a bad thing. Even if you never went to mixer, having competition is a good thing. Especially with the drama twitch has had recently, I always felt a little better about myself tuning into a mixer stream.

Shroud for sure will gets lots of views when he returns. His girlfriend would get thousands of views when she was playing with shroud vs the hundreds she would normally get

30 mil is nothing.
Some unshowered male on twitch-I could drop 30 million on a married streamer I don't even know the name of simpin. I wonder if she would make me a mod.

I hear that sending your pain pills to people is a good way to get some booty.

Throw 30 mil at me in the bank and I'd be out :) Vacation city forever.

Was thinking the same. Just live within your means, even if it's a 30 million payout (minus taxes).

I have a shitload of extra pain pills now. I'm not that interested in getting some basket case streamer involved in my life. I'm doing OK with a wife and multiple nurses now involved in my life.

The only thing that makes me scratch my head more than "who the hell watches Mixer?" is "who the hell watches Facebook Gaming?!?"

It's a classic case of why only one platform can really exist on the Internet for each type of "service". People will congregate where the action is. Sure, there will always be smaller players, but they will be much smaller. It's why MySpace died to Facebook. Or why Gab will never be a threat to Twitter, or Voat to Reddit. As much as I would like competition, it just doesn't work that way on the Internet.

Mixer suffered from the same issues YouTube gaming and FB Gaming( been around awhile ).
They imposed their shitty social justice polices from Microsoft, Google and Facebook into it.
Twitch has it somewhat with Amazon but it wasn't always Amazon. and compared to the other 3 attempts, keeps out of it for the most part other than offering incentives.
Capitalism says eventually Twitch will short Circuit City, but it is going to have to be a standalone or a big company willing to distant itself for it to happen.
YT and FB will never be anything close to Twitch/Justin TV and even with all sorts of issues Twitch looks to be on top a solid 5+ years still and it would take serious money in addition to offering a better service for viewers and streamers to be overcome.

Let's not forget $30M is just their payout. These guys were making multi million a year already

I agree for some things but for video streaming i think there can be multiple players. Youtube would be a much bigger competitor if they actually cared. I would watch youtube over twitch any day and I do if I know it's available (competitive matches for games are usually on YT and twitch, i always go YT).

What's missing is a game directory, as well as built in stuff that twitch has, like deck trackers for card games.

The last FortNite event had 1 youtube streamer get over 800k concurrent... and minecraft is massive.

But yea.. if I'm looking to browse streams and chill, I'm going to twitch cause it's easier and the known streamers are there ( for our generation).

Keep in mind that youtube is massive with younger gen

You wanna know who I feel really really bad for?

The poor fucker over there at Mixer. "Yay, we're getting bought by MicroSoft! They are gonna do so much for us, help us to build the brand, etc." I mean, Mixer was doing alright, not the best by any means but they were at least getting by. But then word comes down that they have to get twitch numbers by the middle of the next year. Then, this shit happens.

It's seemingly a hail Mary pass, the deal between Ninja and Mixer.

And it seems that Ninja's (and shroud's) lawyers knew that, and wrote into their contract, hey... If you go belly up, then pay me.

people at twitch are laughing their asses off right now. They won. They made Microsoft cave in. Not some tiny startup. Twitch could not be beaten 7 years ago when it was mainly for sc2 streams and was much much more vulnerable to competition. I remember gomtv, Own3d, mlg had their own player. They all vanished within a year. Mixer was no different, even with massive MS backing. It too only lasted like a year. And no one gives a shit about facebook or facebook gaming.

looks like Shroud's a corporate homo

I can easily see why Microsoft just let it go. Gaming is one thing to get behind, the stuff that Twitch is attracting now not so much. At least a tiny part of it.

Microsoft never sees anything through, though. I could list a litany of businesses that MS at one point and time had a stranglehold on, and they just let the shit slip right through their fingers. Windows store, skype, those are only 2 that I can think of off the top of my head.

Fuck that noise. My means suck compared to this. First thing I'd buy a proper house for my family, and then I'd burn through half a million every year. I doubt I even could spend that much money if I tried.
