Here's your long answer:
A completely normal and healthy child is challenging enough. I've heard the horror stories. While I myself have obviously never parented a kid in earnest, I've heard from friends for decades... and it sounds like war stories. I commend parents for being.... well... parents. I can't imagine, and trust me... don't want to.
There is nothing normal about Gender Dysphoria. It's a mental illness and a veritable curse. I so very much wish I was just a regular dude or regular gal, but it wasn't in the cards for me. We all know the stats. Most trannies aren't like me... many will suffer depression, ostracism, and high suicide rates. You don't want this for your kid, or on your kid, or on your friend's kid etc etc. There is literally nothing positive about being a tranny (duh). If you're looking in the media and seeing how trannies are "propped up" as cool trendsetters, well it's no different than blacks. It's actually insulting to non-woke rationals who "get it". It's like... bruh, I'm good. America is fine. I don't need your pandering and/or allyship.
So anyway... my advice: look for the source. What is the source of this gender incongruence? Did it come from the child themselves or did you or the TV put some weird shit in their head?
If we're talking about a perfectly healthy baby boy who has some woke parents and wanted a daughter and they start dressing up the kid as a girl... well that's child abuse and they need to bring back the guillotine. The source is clearly the parents.
If we're talking about a child whose actions seem to be gender incongruent, and they have persistent and repeatable behavior of this sort, then they may have a tranny on their hands. May being the operative word, because studies have shown that puberty can cause gender incongruency to work itself out on its own and that potential princess with a peen just ends up a gay male.
But say you have a child that is acting out in a gender opposite of their biological sex on a daily basis and insists they are a boy/girl (opposite of reality)? What do, Cletus!?!?!?!
Well, if you're the parent and you beat the shit out of them because they're a fag, that's child abuse too. What ISN'T child abuse is trying to get them to be comfortable and happy in their own skin.
If the kid is truly a tranny (hard to tell for 100% diagnosis at this current juncture, sadly), parents who love, accept and support them are amazing people. Unlucky parents, but amazing nonetheless. But this is human nature... be it autism, trannsexualism, club-foot, hairlip, etc... you run risks of issues arising, but... you're going to love your child and want the best for them no matter what.
Sometimes the best for them is steering them away from things too.
Basically, try everything in your toolbelt of parenting (as lovingly as possible!) to NOT have them commit to some notion of transgenderism but if they're having mental breakdowns and becoming suicidal over being inhibited by their gender expression.... then they are a highly dysphoric tranny and need support, not condemnation.
............sigh, I've said it before... I really wish there was a simple blood test to figure this out.
It's important. Imagine looking like Kim K but sounding like Pete Davidson. You're still clocked as a trans, no matter the beauty.
The phone is a great regulator for trannies, actually. Just call a business and ask a question or four. You will likely get gendered as sir or ma'am during the convo without any face-to-face bias.
I DO identify as a woman. I'm a transgender woman. But I'm not simply "a woman" and never will be. Just because I identify as a woman doesn't mean I suddenly become one. That's just insanity and irrationality. The world treats me as a woman instead of a man. That's just how this all works at this point.
I haven't had a therapist for Gender Dysphoria in almost a decade now. It's beaten. It's not this psychological thorn in my side anymore, thank God. It truly, truly sucks... on par with all the other mental illnesses out there.... depression, bipolar, schizophrenia etc. It's not a fun thing to have.
I've never dealt with my voice giving me problems, no. I'm gendered as a female on the phone, and at drive-thrus 100%. My voice isn't this amazing, ultra dainty harp in the clouds tone either hahaha... like... I hear my trannyness in my own voice quite clearly, ya, but..... say, relative to what you'd think is a "tranny" voice? Nah, I'm doing fine there. I have several videos that demonstrate it of course.

Honestly I was trying to use this thread as an actual AMA, before like 6 months ago I was not having patients come into our clinic for this so it was not a concern I had considered. Having the doctor I work for explain their treatment options it seems like a kind of shitty deal, admittedly several of the patients seemed more on the trendgendered/Munchausen side, so thought I would ask

Thank you kindly. Yeah, so social transitioning as I have done it and as many have done it is currently the most effective treatment for Gender Dysphoria. It works. It is scientifically, medically, and biologically proven to work. When you push all the politics off the table and get down to just science and biology, it works. Very well.
But is it ideal? No. Fack no.
It's a hard life. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone. The ideal solution (and is perhaps a pipe dream, just as my to-be-invented-blood-test diagnosis) is to fix it at its source. For all biological men to feel normal as a male and biological females feeling comfy as a woman. This is what is normal and great... just males and females; duh.
Feel free. There have been trolls in this thread since day 1.
This is exactly why I wish there was a cure OR better fix to it all. I don't want anyone else walking in my shoes. Don't get me wrong... I've had an awesome life (and still do!) and am grateful. But nah... this tranny business isn't a perk to the game of life.
