Yep, WoW has already done it with their pet battle system. But read up on pokemon gameplay, you'll see. Its probably one of the most easily and readily adapted to MMO format gameplay systems out there.

It's funny because I'm in my early 40s and Magic is a kiddy version of AD&D to me. I can't see the appeal of trading cards for gamers. My memories of MTG are little kids running around with their decks when I was in college.I'm in my early 30s and anytime someone brings up Pokemon I laugh because to me it's a silly childrens game. It's like a kiddy version of Magic to me. I will admit to never knowing anything about it, but when it was popular I was in high school and the people playing it were like in 4th grade or something and there was a shitty cartoon on TV as well.
That's strange to me since they are nothing alike from my point of view. Often enough, from my experience, P&P players and magic players were often the same people. I never played D&D.It's funny because I'm in my early 40s and Magic is a kiddy version of AD&D to me. I can't see the appeal of trading cards for gamers. Yes, it's extremely well developed and fleshed out and, sadly, is more fun than most full-fledged MMOs.I can see the comparison between MTG and Pokemon, but D&D? Entirely different game.
That said from what I am told WoW has a full pokemon copy as a sidegame? Friend of mine did nothing but that for what felt like months. Did a ton of content he didnt touch before just to get mini pets etc. He made it sound interesting too, I would have checked it out if I had free access to my WoW account.
Apart from the fantasy theme, they're nothing alike to me either. And yes, in the early years of MtG, both games were played by the same folks. It's no accident, since Richard Garfield developed the game as something for people to play in a very impromptu fashion at RPG conventions. Ironically, the popularity of MtG with the PnP crowd was a factor in the eventual demise of TSR. The few hardcore PnPer's I knew who didn't play Magic absolutely despised the game for pulling so many people from their playgroups. That's strange to me since they are nothing alike from my point of view. Yeah, of course the high school had a nursery. So did the junior high. The type that results in 15 year old second time mothers in 7th grade. Over/under on the number of teeth that chick has now at 8 and I bet they all "parental consented" out of sex ed.
I bet the high school had a nursery. Just like mine. Because birth control would inspire sexual activity. Has nothing to do with teenagers being horny fucks.
