Pull the battle pet system out of WoW and develop it into a full fledged MMO without raiding, grouping, and leveling up and all the other WoW shit. Clearly Nintendo is never going to get arund to Pokemon World Online so make it happen, Blizzard.

Have you played diablo 3? or starcraft 2? WoW had its time, but thats been over for sometime now...
All the hardcore folks can whine about gameplay mechanics and longevity, but keep in mind the most important metric to a gaming company and publisher is sales.

In those terms, D3 and SC2 are among Blizzard's top performers ever.

Having said that, it's nice to see that sales numbers aren't going to Blizzard's head, and they are burying a shit game that isn't up to their subjective quality standards.

Oh hey, I found Dumar:http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...0#post21272920
Fuckin MMO's still aint picked up on WoW's winning formula; social hierarchy. Soon as you pander to the pansy left wing of MMO players and join that whole 'Multi-instanced server' crap you REMOVE ALL SENSE OF IDENTITY.

WoW was fun because servers were originally made up of a player base EVERYONE KNEW, this changed when they introduced multi-server battle grounds and then eventually multi server dungeons and raids. They replaced personality with liberal convenience. When things are personal they're a hell of a lot more entertaining. Oh this guild insulted my guild? SERVER DRAMA. Nobody wants to play with a bunch of cunts from other servers who you don't know and never see again, it removed the drama, it removed all personality.

Vanilla WoW was at its peak as a social experience when the PvP system was hierarchical. It had its issues but back then socially it was 10x better. Faggots got stomped by those that worked hard for their rank and gear and they had the rewards and the hierarchy to demonstrate their efforts, and to top it off, the whole server knew their name. THATS HOW YOU MAKE NERDS HAPPY.

God almighty.

For being so invested in the social aspect of an MMO, one post sure does prove how socially inept that person is. I get the idea of how instances upon instances can break apart a community (any appeal SWTOR had for me was killed with how extreme it is), but the idea of going LFG for hours on end is a fucking buzzkill.

I feel like I repeat this over and over but it's about striking a balance. Single server open world PVP battles are key to me ever enjoying MMO PVP -- instanced based CTF or Deathmatch PVP shit doesn't do much for me because all told, I prefer other genres for that type of play. But sure, check that box for people who do enjoy it and Iwouldn'tregulate that to single server searches. I'd apply that logic to dungeons, too.

This. I still don't understand how some company, with all the MMOs we've seen thrown at the wall to date, hasn't come up with an MMO where you farm for rare spawns to capture and level up and use to fight other people in various manners.

Shit would work great, a little ingenuity. You could do arenas, two vs two, open world duels, large scale competitions between pets. Main characters could level up or rank up skills which influence their pet's abilities, the min max and depth that could occur in such a game clearly would be a big draw in the same types of communities that like collectable card games and Pokemon and the like. Throwing ideas at the wall on this could come up with about a million major changes and innovations in the MMO genre it wouldn't even be funny.

The industry is stagnant, that's the only excuse for this not happening already. In fact it kind of has, in a way, on Facebook, in that Insomiac made game, but that's a facebook game and what we'd need in an MMO is a much more fleshed out everything from the Insomniac base game, including a real 3-d world.

Imagine how developers could add rare spawn limited time only mobs and the race to grab them and all that. Shit might be tough to balance but so what?

It would be FUN.

Not to mention all the different outfits you could buy for your Pikachu to make him even more cuter than some other person's!

Don't forget player housing so you can build a place for all your cute pets to live.

I hate to admit it, but lets face it--most of us would be pokemon whores if it was made into a decent MMO.

Imagine dungeons, and difficult to get-to places existing for the sole purpose of getting rare new pets, or challenging your current pet to teach him a unique ability. I would play the shit out of that game.

Oh dude, you could do micro transactions on different animations and outfits for the main character too, think about the stupid Pokemon cartoon, every time Ash orders pikachu to do something, you could have a different animation, you could make some of them shop exclusive, others base animations, people would gobble that shit up just to make their characters a tiny bit different from others. The revenue generation potential is sky high, and none of it would need affect gameplay, so therefore, no pay to win problems.

How fucked is it that Dota2 and the Blizzard dota-clone were both announced in October of 2010?

We're not going to see this new project for...

Yup convert that formula to MMO form, the need to collect every single collectable creature in the game alone would keep at least a million people worldwide playing for years. Guaranteed.

Its also a type of formula which appeals to both the more casual player, and the die hard of the die hard.

I remember a couple posters on FoH who always claimed no one had any idea what Titan was about and we were all retarded but they wouldn't post about it because of Furor. Time to spill the beans pussies.

Yeah I agree. If Nintendo made a Pokemon MMO, it would literally print money. Big fucking piles of it. It's literally ASKING to be made an MMO.

I could be dead wrong on timelines, but it seems it's been a pretty good while that Titan has been talked about... Long enough that there has to be something complete, and out of morbid curiosity, I kinda hope that eventually the original version is at least talked about. I'm curious as to what they have so far. Kind of like the "early Diablo 3" screens we saw.

I know Blizzard has scrapped some ideas and started over. I am pretty sure they did it with Diablo 3 and 2 no? But they didn't basically scrap the whole team did they? That's the only part that seems unprecedented to me.

Why do people keep saying Pokemon + anything = money fountain? I haven't seen anyone outside of 6th grade who gave a shit about pokemon, where is this delusion that it is the most popular thing in the world coming from

Because collectibles have always been incredibly popular. Look at how many people in WoW grind out all those stupid achievements they added.

Look at Magic the Gathering.

Look at the massive popularity of Pokemon.

Its pretty obvious that the model would appeal to a broad swath of gamers, especially in a persistant, more mature setting.
