It does.

But don't hit me with "good facts" like we don't have soldiers there in harms way. I'm fairly sure when an American dies there, that their parents take absolutely no solace that they weren't a "combat troop".

Point is. Obama hasn't stopped spending money or lives on these wars. And now he wants a new one. He should go back to being the best salesman that the Gun Industry has ever had in this country. Everytime he opens his mouth any issue, I know the opposite will happen.
The only troops we still have in Iraq are doing training and guarding the embassy, same as every other nation on Earth. Or most of them.

I think people are blowing it out of proportion at this point. The only people I have seen talking up any kind of military action at this point are noted war hawks. I think given Russia's posturing, military action seems very unlikely.

The worst part (outside of WWIII starting) is that when we have US ground troops in Syria and we have a rash of green on blue attacks since the rebels are the same fucks who hate us.

You will not bad mouth our noble Al-Qaeda allies like that. These rebels have an incredible amount in common with our own Founding Fathers.

Its kinda comical how history repeats itself. Once again US has decided to team up with al-qaeda mujahadeen against the Russians. Its like the 80s all over again!

I'd gain a lot of respect for Pres. Obama if he said he needed congressional approval to engage Syria.

I'd have more if he just didn't want to engage Syria, but that would work I suppose.

I really have no idea. Does anyone know what the narrative is to justify our involvement in a civil war in Syria?

The narrative is that it's a human's rights crisis and we have to stop it.

It is a humanitarian crisis, but we can't really stop it and I don't think we can make it better. From where I stand the only way to help the situation is to side with Assad.

Children are dying!

Seriously.. that is the argument. The US is now the protector of the world's children.

So now without UN guidance we are just strolling into any country present on Earth's violent conflict, just cause?

Jesus I cannot believe how brazenly obvious these defense contract cash grabs are becoming, can't wait to deploy to Afghanistan in a few months to get shot at by the same rebels we will be supporting a few borders away.

Hopefully they aren't good with logistics and shortly be using our own weapons against us.

Disgusting.....

I've yet to read or hear an actual explanation.

Despotic regime, the mandate of democracy, and human rights abuses straight up do not cut it. I flat out do not believe that Hillary's heart bleeds that color. There's a tactical reason, and I'm not close to familiar enough with Syria to know what that is. It's got to be more than sticking a finger in Russia's eye.

My ignorant guess is that Israel is threatening to do something about it if we don't. But when it comes to American policy in the middle east, that's sort of like saying the sky is usually blue. You're only wrong if it's night or cloudy. So I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that as well.
