If you just watched the John Kerry press conference, I think it's pretty obvious that we will be taking action sooner rather than later.

I think they'll go the route of pressuring NATO/Europe to do something rather than actually get involved. You know, beyond drones or whatever.

He also said it's "undeniable" that Syria used chemical weapons... so...

After Colin Powell's testimony before Congress regarding Iraq's WMDs I can't take Kerry's word about Syria's use of chemical weapons.

I would hope none of us take his word after what happened last time.
I'm currently taking bets on how long it will be before someone declares Syria got their WMD from Iraq (a rumor back during the Iraq days amongst the right was that Iraq had no chemical weapons because they shipped them all to Syria).

Right wing pundits are already working this angle on the major news networks.

By the end of the week.

Though how did these rebels get their hands on Assad's WMDs and learned how to deploy and operate them?

I'm more inclined to believe that US set off chemical weapons to create a red line casus belli.

airforce has to move onto drones though, f22 reaches the limits a human pilot can endure.
While this is true, communications lag between UAV operators in the US (Creech, Cannon, Holloman AFB's), boots on the ground locally, other manned surveillance aircraft in the area, and those in the DC/Virginia area making the calls, sometimes you need a manned fighter in orbit to react more quickly to changing circumstances. Until they develop better means of communications that can eliminate the lag because of SATCOM and distances covered by it, there will continue to be a need for manned aircraft.

It really sounds like a setup to me, but who's behind it? Can't wait to see the knee jerk reaction to all this.

If that man told me it was undeniably raining outside I'd still look out the window to check.

The time to worry is if talking heads start spouting stories about how well Libya went.

We didn't get involved and it isn't an islamist state yet, so I'd say that Libya went fine.

so that would make the chemical weapons like a Benny hill skit, they keep crossing borders while america chases them ineffectively?

where are they gonna go next? Iran then take a plane to north Korea, hit up Brazil on the way back home?

We did get involved tho and through some trick of fate or Jesus taking pity on us we managed to not irrevocably fuck it up unto the fifth generation.

That's why it would be concerning if there's a sudden focus on our involvement in Libya. Libya panned out ok for us.

Ah I get what you mean. By "didn't get involved" I mean, you know, Iraq.

These are some amazingly stealthy WMDs, downright magical if US can't keep track of them, find them or locate them.

I suspect "Saddam's WMDs" will be used as an excuse to invade anyone for the next 25 years
