If you remember early to mid during his campaign, Obama wanted to invade Pakistan. When he started to get better poll numbers, and they started to think he had a real shot at beating Hillary, he said less and less about it.
It's not that Obama is hawkish that comes as a surprise, it's that he is completely unable to explain anything about this. I have no great admiration for the man but I do acknowledge that he is a great speaker. He is able to express complex concepts in accessible ways. So the fact that he's not... he's either gone insane or the reasons for this are so dirty that in reality no one in their right mind would pursue it... which amounts to the same thing.
It's justfucked upthat Bush/Cheney were better at this. "Al-Queda, El-Queso, Hezbollah, Lallapaloza, who knows? Who cares? All those Arabs basically hate us, so lets go blow some shit up and make the world a better place" was better than this... I dunno what it even is. Condescending secrecy? A big thing that bothers me is how quickly his own bullshit escalated in even the past week. At first it was a small strike... now it's no-fly zones with "boots on the ground" as an option. What th... My brain is full of fuck.
It's like he sees a massive war coming and has decided that if we don't strike first we'll lose.
